Pokemon GO's Ultra Space Wonders event takes place on May 23-28, 2024, and trainers will undoubtedly be hunting for shiny Pokemon both old and new. To that end, more than a few shinies will be appearing in this event, and some shinies are considered much rarer than their counterparts. Since this is the case, it doesn't hurt to examine the rare shinies worth catching in Ultra Space Wonders.
Trainers in Pokemon GO will obviously prioritize which shinies are the most valuable to them in different ways, but certain shinies during Ultra Space Wonders are likely considered pretty rare by consensus. With that in mind, there are five shinies that trainers may want to prioritize when the event kicks off in a few days.
Five rare shiny Pokemon worth catching in Pokemon GO Ultra Space Wonders
1) Galarian Weezing

Outside of a short duration during Pokemon GO Fest 2022, Galarian Weezing doesn't appear in the wild. Although it pops up here and there as a raid boss or as a research reward, Galarian Weezing's lack of appearances in the wild makes its shiny appearances pretty rare. Fortunately, trainers can raid Galarian Weezing in Tier 3 raids during Ultra Space Wonders.
As a Tier 3 raid boss, countering Galarian Weezing shouldn't be too difficult of a task and can even be accomplished solo. Hopefully, with a few extra raid passes, trainers can secure a shiny Galarian Weezing for their collection.
2) Druddigon
Much like Galarian Weezing, trainers won't find Druddigon in the wild in Pokemon GO, leaving the task of finding its shiny to beating it in Tier 3 raids or completing research. Ultra Space Wonders will present the opportunity for trainers to find shiny Druddigon, but they'll have to commit to grinding Tier 3 raids during the event to do so.
It isn't ideal, but a shiny Druddigon isn't a creature that players find with regularity. If trainers don't have one yet, they may want to consider saving their raid passes for it and assembling a team of primarily Ice and Fairy-type Pokemon to counter and beat it effectively as a raid boss.
3) Hisuian Qwilfish
Much like more than a few species on this list, Hisuian Qwilfish won't be found in the wild in Pokemon GO outside of events like GO Tour Sinnoh. Trainers have been able to find it in eggs, Tier 1 raids, and as a research reward on occasion, but these occurrences tend to be pretty spread out.
Even though Hisuian Qwilfish was recently featured in GO Tour Sinnoh, it may be quite some time before it appears in another event after Ultra Space Wonders. Since this is the case, battling it in Tier 1 raids may be the best shot players have at getting its shiny for quite some time.
4) Paldean Wooper
Paldean Wooper itself may not be as rare as some of the other Ultra Space Wonders creatures in Pokemon GO, but that may have to do with the fact that it's still relatively new to the game. At some point, the Paldea region's creatures might fall out of favor, and it might not be a bad idea for trainers to secure a shiny Paldean Wooper before that happens.
The good news is that Paldean Wooper will be a Tier 1 raid boss in Ultra Space Wonders, and most trainers with a few Ground, Ice, Psychic, or Water-type Pokemon should be able to counter and beat it easily.
5) Mareanie
While Mareanie might not be the rarest Pokemon out there, its Pokemon GO shiny variant is making its in-game debut during Ultra Space Wonders. Even better, trainers will be able to find Mareanie more often in the wild during the event than they normally would, so this is an excellent opportunity to catch shiny Mareanie and not have to worry about doing so later.
There's no guarantee that Mareanie will be featured in another event after Ultra Space Wonders and its May 28 Spotlight Hour, so the boosted wild spawns provided by Ultra Space Wonders might be the best opportunity to get its shiny variant for quite some time.
