With Pokemon GO Fest 2024 officially kicking off, the creature Necrozma is making its arrival from beyond Ultra Space, and its impact on Niantic's mobile title could be substantial. Thanks to its battle capabilities, its ability to fuse with Solgaleo and Lunala, and what it symbolizes for the game's future, there are many things to appreciate about Necrozma finally being added to GO.

Although not every trainer will be able to catch Necrozma in Pokemon GO at the same time due to how GO Fest 2024 is scheduled, it still doesn't hurt to examine why fans should be excited about its inclusion. Every player has their opinion of course, but some common refrains have been heard from the community all the same.

5 reasons to be excited for Necrozma in Pokemon GO

1) Dawn Wings/Dusk Mane Necrozma

If Necrozma isn't getting the job done enough as a mono Psychic-type in Pokemon GO, it has the ability to expend fusion energy to fuse with Solgaleo or Lunala to become Dusk Mane Necrozma or Dawn Wings Necrozma, respectively. Dusk Mane is a Steel/Psychic-type, while Dawn Wings is a Ghost/Psychic-type, giving Necrozma to alter its weaknesses and resistances ahead of a battle.

Moreover, the addition of Pokemon fusion opens avenues for future Pocket Monsters that use similar mechanics like Kyurem or Calyrex to be introduced as well.

2) It May Signal a Departure from the Ultra Beasts

For the past few seasons, the Ultra Beasts have dominated the content calendar. While plenty of trainers certainly aren't complaining, some have grown a bit tired of Ultra Beasts being added in favor of other Pokemon. With Necrozma emerging from the Ultra Wormhole in Pokemon GO, Niantic may be hinting that its focus will shift from the Ultra Beasts for a time now that the big boss of Ultra Space is here.

While multiple Ultra Beasts were seen in the trailer for the Season of Shared Skies, Niantic is possibly planning for other Pokemon in future seasons.

3) It's Arriving With its Shiny Form

While some rare creatures don't arrive in Pokemon GO with their shiny variants available to catch, shiny Necrozma is available at the same time as its standard counterpart. Even though some players may not care about shiny Necrozma (or shiny Dusk Mane/Dawn Wings for that matter), shiny hunters should be thrilled that they won't have to wait to snag this coveted and rare shiny variant.

4) Ultra Necrozma May Arrive in the Future

While Dusk Mane and Dawn Wings Necrozma are getting plenty of attention from fans (as they should), they're not the strongest incarnation of Necrozma in the Pokemon series. That honor goes to Ultra Necrozma, which is Necrozma's strongest form after it has absorbed an immense amount of light and energy and vastly raised its stats and overall battle capabilities.

It might be a while before Niantic determines how to introduce Ultra Necrozma in a balanced way, but perhaps the path can be paved if they introduce Z-Stones and Z-Moves beforehand.

5) It Proves Effective as a Raid Attacker

With a base Attack stat of 251 without using its fusion with Solgaleo/Lunala, Necrozma already has plenty of firepower to be an effective raid attacker. Moreover, it benefits from a diverse moveset that includes Psychic, Dragon, Steel, Dark, and Ghost-type moves, allowing Necrozma to deal with many different opponents.

This isn't to say that Necrozma won't have its uses in PvP, but its base Defense and Stamina stats of 195 and 219 aren't quite on par with its offensive potential. Necrozma can certainly take some punishment, but its damage output is where it truly shines.
