Appearance
Rufflet is a small bird Pokemon with a mostly blue body and a large white group of feathers that covers its head. It has three tail feathers that cover its head and extends down past its neck to cover most of its upper body. It has a blue face with five pointed tips among the white feathers and a short, wide beak and two large eyes. It has two wings and two small feet that are yellow.
Behavior
As per the Pokedex entries, Rufflet is an aggressive Pokemon that cannot resist a fight. Conversely, if it loses these fights it will become quite embarrassed and even cry. Its feet are strong enough to crush even the strongest berries. They are also strong enough to crack Shellder and let it eat the insides. It will even provoke and fight its parents in order to get stronger.
Strengths and Weaknesses
As a Normal and Flying type Pokémon, Rufflet is weak against Rock, Electric and Ice type moves and will take twice the normal damage from them. It is immune to Ground and Ghost type Pokemon and is resistant to Bug and Grass types, which will do half the damage. There is no advantage or disadvantage with Normal, Water, Psychic, Fighting, Flying, Poison, Dragon, Dark, Fairy, Fire and Steel type Pokemon.
Best moveset (Rufflet)
Rufflet has a lot of strong moves including Thrash, Superpower and Brave Bird, which are moves that have 120 power and 100% accuracy. How to catch Rufflet in Pokemon Go?
Rufflet can be found in populated areas and schools, parking lots and parks. Rufflet was recently the weekly research reward Pokemon for completing seven research stamps, though it has been replaced with Ditto for now. Partly Cloudy weather and Windy weather will increase the spawn rate for Rufflet and it evolves to Braviary at 50 candies.
Trivia
- Rufflet can be considered a counterpart to Vullaby. Both are part Flying type and can evolve at level 54. They are exclusive to opposite games from each other, as well.
- Rufflet may be based on a bald eagle. Braviary is as well, with Rufflet being based on the eaglet and Braviary the full grown eagle.
- The ability to crack open berries and eat them with its talons is similar to a parrot, which is the only bird known to do that.

FAQs
- How big is Rufflet?
- Rufflet stands almost two feet, at 1’08 and weighs 23.1 pounds, which is pretty light. When it evolves to Braviary, it grows to nearly five feet, 4’11, and weighs 90.4 pounds. When it evolves, it gets significantly bigger, though Braviary isn’t a “big” Pokemon by any metric.
- Is Rufflet in Pokemon Sword and Shield?
- Yes, both Rufflet and Braviary can be found in Pokemon Sword, but not in Shield. Rufflet can be found on Route 8 with a 10% spawn rate in All Weather. Braviary does not spawn in Sword, but can be evolved to once Rufflet hits level 54.
- Is there a shiny Rufflet?
- Yes, in Pokemon Go. The shiny Rufflet, which many players were able to get while it was the weekly research task reward, trades in the blue color for a brown shade, and maintains the other colors and features.
Conclusion
Rufflet is a very strong Pokemon and has access to several high powered moves. It’s moderately rare in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Go, and Braviary is even more rare in both games. However, its moveset and type advantages make it a tremendous addition to a team.
