Appearance

Sableye is a small, purple, humanoid creature with very sharp teeth and claws. Its eyes look like sparkling gemstones as well as having a small red gemstone on its chest and a black gem and green gem on its back.

Behavior

Sableye can see in the darkness of caves and feed off of gemstones it digs up with its claws. Its gem-like features come from this diet. This nocturnal Pokemon is feared anywhere its sighted as it's said that anyone who looks into its eyes has their soul stolen.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Sableye is a dual dark/ghost type Pokemon, which is a strange type combination. It is strong to only poison type moves, taking half damage from them, and weak to only fairy type moves, which it takes double damage from. However, to make up for this, it is immune to the most types of any type combination. Sableye takes no damage from normal, fighting, and psychic type moves.

Mega Sableye

Mega Sableye is the Mega Evolved form of Sableye. A Sableye holding a Sablenite in games that feature Mega Evolution can Mega Evolve into Mega Sableye. Mega Sableye is not very different from a normal Sableye. Its eyes are no longer glassy but now red, ruby-like gems. As well as that it's hiding behind a large, similarly red gemstone. Mega Sableye has increased defensive stats making it even more effective as a utility Pokemon.

Shiny Sableye

Shiny Sableye is the rare, recolored version of Sableye. Shiny Sableye is completely gold instead of completely purple. On top of that, the once glassy eye gems of Shiny Sableye are now shiny gold as well. The gem on the stomach of a Shiny Sableye is green rather than the red of its normal form.

Best Moveset for Sableye

Utility set: Sableye has rather unspectacular stats but learns a number of utility moves which can pester and weaken an enemy team. Combined with Recover and the Prankster ability, this set allows Sableye to be a long lasting detriment to opponents.

How to Catch Sableye in Pokemon Go

Sableye is very rarely found in the wild in Pokemon Go. For the best chances of finding a Sableye, is to search in cemeteries and at night where other ghost and dark types appear.

Trivia

  1. Sableye is the darkness Pokemon, which is the same category as Murkrow.
  2. Sableye is considered a counterpart to Mawile as they both have Mega Evolutions and are exclusive to opposing games in every generation they appear in.
  3. Due to its typing, Sableye as well as other dark/ghost types had no weaknesses until the fairy type was introduced.

FAQs

Conclusion

Sableye is a very strange Pokemon both in its backstory and in battle. It's not powerful but it is useful and it's not dangerous but it is feared. Sableye is one of the closest Pokemon the Pokemon universe has to a cryptid.
