Appearance
Sandile is small and shaped like a crocodile (or alligator) with glasses. Its eyes are the shape of glasses even though its first appearance in the anime featured it with a red pair of glasses. It has a long tail and a long snout with a light brown colour palette, a few black stripes across its back and underside with a pink underside. Its eyes are shrouded in all black at the front so that sand will not get into them and this also helps Sandile see in the harsh sunlight. Its snout has two tipped nostrils and a wide mouth, and it also has flat feet with three sharp claws.
Behavior
Sandile mainly live in deserts but they can also be found in Alola, because the temperate conditions are similar to the desert. Sandile typically prey on Trapinch and thus they usually burrow into the sand with only their eyes remaining above ground. It helps to regulate body temperature as well as keep hidden from enemies. Once the sun sets it goes completely underground to sleep. It is not good at hunting prey, so it is considered the Cleaner of the Desert because it cleans up the ones who died in the desert overnight.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Sandile is weak to Fighting, Bug, Water, Grass, Ice and Fairy type Pokemon and takes twice the normal damage from them. It is immune to Electric and Psychic type Pokemon, and resistant to Poison, Rock, Dark and Ghost type Pokemon, which will do only half the damage to it.
Best moveset (Sandile)
Sandile has a lot of strong moves including Thrash, which is a move that has 120 power and 100% accuracy. Here are Sandile’s best moves: Thrash lasts 2-3 turns and confuses the target, Double Edge has 33% recoil while Uproar lasts 3 turns and active Pokemon cannot fall asleep. Finally, Earthquake hits adjacent Pokemon and does double damage on Dig.
Earthquake | Double Edge |
Thrash | Uproar |
How to catch Sandile in Pokemon Go?
Sandile can be found at the beach, in the desert and other sandy areas as well as in hot temperatures or sunny weather. It can be hatched from a Strange Egg, which needs a 12 km walk to hatch and is only given to a trainer who defeats a Team Go Rocket leader, like Cliff, Sierra or Arlo. It evolves to Krokorok at 25 candies and into Krookodile at 100 candies.
Trivia
- No other Pokemon have the same type combination as Sandile, Krokorok and Krookodile (Dark Ground).
- Sandile is based physically on the baby alligator and thus it has the same snout and eyes. The stripes are akin to what a stereotypical burglar might look like.
- Sandile is a combination of the words sand and crocodile, which is a pretty appropriate name.
FAQs
Is Sandile a good Pokemon?
While most every Pokemon has its uses (even Magikarp, which is considered the useless Pokemon), Sandile is a pretty weak Pokemon to have. It’s not super strong, fast or able to take a lot of hits which makes the list of uses for Sandile rather short.
Is Sandile in Pokemon Sword and Shield?
Yes, Sandile is a fairly common Pokemon to be found in Sword and Shield. It can be found in the Potbottom desert and will spawn at a rate of 36%.
Where’s the best place to find Sandile in Pokemon Go?
It can be found in other places, but many players find that hatching a 12 km Strange Egg, given by a defeated Team Go Rocket leader, is easier. Those hatch Sandile, Pawniard, Vullaby and others. This also gives more candy towards evolving it.
Conclusion
Sandile can be a fun Pokemon to have, because its evolutions are pretty good. While it doesn’t have a lot of overwhelming strengths, it’s not entirely useless either as Sandile, and its evolutionary family, have a rare Ground Dark type which no other Pokemon have. This makes it a strong addition to any Pokedex or team.
