There are a few reasons as to why you should not purify Shadow Cresselia in Pokemon GO.

1) Better offensive presence

Shadow Pokemon receive a 20% buff to their Attack stat at the cost of a 20% decrease in Defense. With a meager 153 base Attack and a massive 258 Defense, this is a tradeoff Shadow Cresselia welcomes with open arms.

Thanks to its enormous Stamina stat of 260, even the debuffed Defenses don't impact it too drastically. Instead, the additional offensive presence makes it more of a threat in some situations.

2) Rarer find

Regular Cresselia returns to 5-star raids in Pokemon GO almost every year. These raids run for almost two weeks every time they appear and restrictions around participation are far and few.

However, the number of Shadow Cresselia in Pokemon GO you can own is limited by the number of Super Rocket Radars you can expend while it is part of Giovanni's team.

3) Added versatility in GO Battle League

Cresselia is one of the best picks in Pokemon GO's Great League and Ultra League. Since it is primarily known for its bulk, the critter's additional damage boost can catch the opponent off guard. Overall, it is a solid side-grade compared to its regular version in both formats.

Keep in mind that not purifying Shadow Cresselia in Pokemon GO will cause it to be stuck with the Charged Attack Frustration and will cost extra resources to power up. However, you can remove the former during any Team GO Rocket Event and address the latter problem by grinding a bit harder.
