About Solosis

As a generation five Pokemon, Solosis first appeared in the Black and White season of the anime in the episode Where Did You Go, Audino?. It was used to help the protagonists locate a missing Audino. Solosis is part of a three stage evolution and will evolve into Duosion at level 32, and subsequently into Reuniclus at level 41. The Pokedex mentions Solosis’s natural resilience and how the special liquid around their bodies can keep them alive in extreme conditions.

Appearance

Solosis is a round green Pokemon surrounded by a green liquid jelly. It is meant to resemble a cell undergoing cellular division and its evolution line helps support this design. Solosis has two eyes that appear to have no pupils as they are all black as well as a pink diamond shape for a mouth. There is also a curly yellow horn on Solosis’s head which represents the endoplasmic reticulum of a cell. Solosis is small at only 1 foot, or 0.3 meters, tall.

Solosis Appearance

Behavior

While Solosis has appeared for a few generations, it has only appeared as minor roles in three different episodes of the anime. Its appearances in the anime showcase it as a Pokemon with powerful psychic prowess and it appears to communicate through telepathy. The Pokedex mentions that the liquid surrounding Solosis keeps it safe, regardless of what environment it is in. However, if Solosis takes a powerful hit, the liquid can leak out of its body.

Strengths and Weaknesses

For a base evolution Pokemon, Solosis has a high special attack stat. While many of its other stats require evolution to be relevant in battle, Solosis is relatively threatening even at the first evolution in its line. As a monotype psychic Pokemon, Solosis is 2x weak to ghost, bug, and dark type moves, has no immunities but is resistant to fighting and psychic type moves.

Shiny Solosis

While Shiny Solosis’s main body does not change much, the liquid surrounding it changes its color. A Shiny Solosis has a bright blue jelly around its body rather than a green jelly and the curly yellow horn, or the endoplasmic reticulum, is now red in colour. This color swap is evident throughout the Shiny Solosis’s evolution line making it easy to differentiate between a regular Solosis or a Shiny Solosis. Like all shiny Pokemon, a Shiny Solosis gains a starry animation upon entering battle.

Best Moveset

As a base evolution Pokemon, Solosis is exclusively limited to LC (Little Cup) brackets of competitive play. In this format, Solosis will only face other base evolution Pokemon which makes its high special attack count for much more. With its slow speed stat, you will want to consider a Trick Room team in an attempt to go first with high individual stats along with low speed. Consider running Trick Room, Psychic, Thunder, and Hidden Power Fighting. Trick Room can turn Solosis’s slow speed from a disadvantage to an advantage, Psychic benefits from STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus), and finally Thunder and Hidden Power Fighting can give Solosis a wide range of type coverage.
