Appearance
Staraptor is clearly an avian Pokemon, with its design inspired by Condors and other big birds. It has an impressive wingspan, along with several markings across its face and body which can be used to tell if it is a boy or a girl. It also has a red tipped, black crest that extends over its eye and it uses it to frighten enemies, and they are very critical about how it looks. There are also large white markings that cover its chest and a circular white patch on its forehead. This is smaller on a female but the body is grayish, brown for both types.
Behavior
Staraptors are known to be quite aggressive and will never back down from a fight, sometimes to its own detriment. Even when sick or injured, it will continue to fight despite being faced with an opponent several times their size. Staraptors are known to be loners, leaving their flock when they evolve into their final form and are often seen out in the wild carrying small Pokemon with their talons. Thanks to their powerful wing and leg muscles, Staraptor can carry a load while still flying at peak efficiency.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Staraptor excels in both Attack and Speed, but both its Special Attack and Special defense are on the weaker side. It means that the play for Staraptor is to quickly defeat your opponent as quickly as possible before they set something up to take you out.
As a Normal/Flying type, Staraptor is good in fights against Bug, Fighting, and Grass types. However, it is weak against Electric, Ice and Rock Types moves but is immune to Ground and Ghost types.
Shiny Staraptor
Finding a Shiny Staraptor is tricky as it’s tough to encounter a Shiny, the odds are not in your favor without patience and time. The main difference between a normal and Shiny Staraptor is subtle, as Shiny Staraptor’s body is now brown and tan while its crest is now a light blue. To get a Shiny Staraptor of your own, you’ll have to find one in the wild, hatch one from eggs, or you could always find someone willing to trade one. Like all shiny Pokemon, Shiny Staraptor gains a starry animation when it enters a battle.
Best moveset for Staraptor
Brave Bird | Double Edge |
U-Turn | Close Combat |
This moveset emphasizes defeating your opponent at all costs, even at the cost of Staraptor’s HP. With a serious lack of Special Defense, you want to knock out your opponent as fast as you can. Brave Bird and Double Edge are moves that deal a great amount of damage, however it comes at the cost of recoil damage to Staraptor. U-Turn allows Staraptor to be recalled after doing damage, and Close Combat lowers Special and normal Defense by one, but deals a hard hitting blow.
How to catch Staraptor in Pokemon Go?
