Steenee is a Grass type Pokemon that was introduced along with the Alola Region (Generation VII). It is the evolved form of Bounsweet and the pre-evolution of Tsareena. Always upbeat and happy, this Pokemon produces an aroma which not only motivates others, but also makes their days better. Flying Pokemon aren’t a threat to Steenee because its sepals protect it from attacks.

Appearance
Steenee is based on mangosteen, a fruit exclusive to the tropical region surrounding the Indian Ocean. This Pokemon is humanoid and biped, which also implies that this Pokemon is also based on a teenage girl. This is further supported by the fact that Steene can only be female. Steenee has two large green sepals on top of its head, which extends all the way down to its waist. Its head is entirely white, with pink eyes and mouth right below it. Steenee’s upper body is entirely pink, with white arms extending from both sides. The waist of this Pokemon resembles a mangosteen, but also a skirt. This part is also white, and from there Steenee’s legs extend downwards and are entirely pink.
Behavior
Steenee are little sunshines that jump around happily while producing aroma which attracts other Pokemon to it. Sometimes it twirls around like a dancer, does a little dance and the smell starts spreading around it in the process. Inhaling this scent makes anyone happier and makes their day better immediately. However, do not mistake this happy little Pokemon for a defenseless one. The sepals on its head are incredibly strong to such an extent that it can nullify attacks from bird Pokemon. The sepals can also knock someone out if they are hit with the right force, it is quite painful. In Galar, Corvisquire tries to peck this Pokemon and they are immediately greeted with a blow from the sepals followed by a sharp kick.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Steenee is a pure Grass type so its weaknesses are pretty basic. It is weak against Poison, Flying, Bug, Fire and Ice type moves but is resistant to Ground, Water, Grass and Electric type attacks. However, it is immune to no types and thus takes normal damage from the rest.
Best moveset
Steenee is one of the least viable Pokemon in NFE not only due to its bad stats, but also abilities which do not benefit it. There are lots of other grass type options which can be much more useful in this tier. If you still want to use Steenee, you can follow the following set as it can still be a decent support for Fire types in double battles.
Sunny Day increases the damage dealt by Fire type Pokemon. Although having the ability Oblivious is best for this set, if you decide to go for Sweet Veil for some reason, you will be protected from status conditions. Safeguard protects the allies from status conditions and is the reason why you want Oblivious instead of Sweet Veil. This move helps the team from gimmicks like Toxic while Teeter Dance confuses the opponent, which is something that is always annoying.
This move can be replaced by Aromatherapy for situations where you got a status conditions before you could Safeguard. Finally, Solar Beam is your only attacking move. This is the best move for this Pokemon not only because of its high damage or the STAB benefits, but because it will take only one turn for it to cast unlike under normal circumstances, where it takes two. This can be replaced by Giga Drain for a more consistent presence in the battlefield.
Sunny Day | Safeguard |
Teeter Dance | Solar Beam |

Conclusion
Steenee are happy-go-lucky Pokemon that spread good vibes and cheers while hopping about. It can not only protect itself from attacks, but also stomp the enemies when needed which translates into its movepool. Steenee has a lot of attacking and defensive moves which would usually be a good thing, but is rendered useless due to not having good stats or stat boosting moves. However, Steenee can be an incredible support in double battles due to the various boosts it can give to allies and the debuffs it can cause enemies.
