Appearance
Swadloon is a round, yellow Pokemon that resembles a larva. It has a darker inner layer of leaves that show around its face and trail behind it. It covers itself with a lighter-green leafy cloak, leaving a crescent shaped opening around its face. The outer leaf forms two crescent, or bunny ear, shapes at the top of its head. Its eyes are black with white irises, and it almost always appears to be scowling. Swadloon is a small Pokemon at 1 feet and 08 inches, or 0.5 meters, tall.
Behavior
Swadloon can be commonly found in forest areas, with a preference for dark and damp places. Its diet consists of fallen leaves it finds on the ground around it and the forests where Swadloon live are often lush with superb foliage. This is because the nutrients it creates from these fallen leaves are very nourishing to the surrounding plant life. Swadloon bundles itself with leaves to protect itself from the cold, and it stays on the move to find new fallen leaves to eat.
Strengths and Weaknesses
As a not-fully-evolved Pokemon, Swadloon does not have much of a place in competitive play. Its total base stats gear it towards a defensive playstyle. Furthermore, both its health pool and defensive stats are respectable but it is best used as a supportive Pokemon. As a dual type bug and grass Pokemon, Swadloon takes 4x damage from flying and fire type moves, and 2x damage from poison, rock, bug, and ice type moves. It has no immunities but is resistant to fighting, ground, water, grass, and electric type moves.
Best Moveset
In competitive play, Swadloon does not have many practical uses. It is typically used as a support Pokemon that can slow down opposing teams while also tanking damage. With an Eviolite, as a held item, and the Overcoat ability, Swadloon can prove to be a bulky Pokemon. Consider running Sticky Web, Giga Drain, Return and Electroweb. Sticky Web can ensure that your opponent gets off to a slow start, Leaf Storm will provide Swadloon with sustain while Return can deal a decent amount of damage. Finally, Electroweb can slow down flying type Pokemon that avoid your Stick Web.

How to Catch Swadloon in Pokemon Go
If you would like to obtain a Swadloon in Pokemon Go, the easiest way to do so would be to first obtain a Sewaddle and eventually evolve it into Swadloon. Like most evolved Pokemon, the base evolution spawns more often in the wild as compared to its final evolution. Thus you can find Sewaddle in the wild, at a boosted rate, near farms, parks, forests, hiking trails, gardens, and other grassy areas. It can also be hatched from 5 and 7 km eggs but unfortunately, none of the three stage evolutions in its line have appeared as raid bosses in the past. To evolve into Swadloon you will need 25 candies and another 100 to evolve into Leavanny.
Trivia
- Swadloon appears to be based on caterpillar larvae. In the real world, caterpillar larvae will fold leaves over themselves to create shelter.
- Swadloon is also likely based on a hikikomori, a person who practices extreme social withdrawal. Leavanny, Swadloon’s evolution, is named Hahakomori, which furthers this idea.
