Pokemon GO's newest upcoming Mega Evolution was confirmed to be Mega Lucario, which will debut during the Ultra Unlock Raid Day event. However, it seems the developers at Niantic are already preparing for it ahead of the July 27 raid day. This was confirmed by u/Creepywhoopedass, a member of The Silph Road subreddit, who posted a screenshot remarking, "They already added the button to Mega Evolve Lucario."

According to the screenshot, Mega Lucario will only require 200 Mega Energy to evolve, which delighted many Pokemon GO fans who realized they wouldn't have to raid Mega Lucario excessively to collect enough energy. Other trainers pointed out that Mega Lucario had also been added to the in-game Pokedex section for Mega Evolutions.

Trainers continued to show relief that Mega Lucario only required 200 Mega Energy for its transformation, with some pointing out that it should be easily attainable in as little as a single Mega Lucario raid.

While players still have to defeat the supercharged Fighting/Steel-type boss, it appears that trainers are already preparing to bring their best possible counters against it to achieve victory.

Even though Mega Lucario won't make its way to Pokemon GO for a few more days, it seems as though trainers are quite pleased with its addition. It's cheap to Mega Evolve, its debut heralds a new Fast Attack in Force Palm, and players who haven't obtained a Lucario yet have an opportunity to do so during the raid event. All in all, Mega Lucario's arrival should be a net positive for the community.

Will Mega Lucario be good in Pokemon GO?

Even without the addition of Force Palm, Mega Lucario is projected to be arguably the strongest Fighting-type PvE attacker in Pokemon GO thanks to its base stat total which is believed to be 310 Attack, 175 Defense, 172 Stamina, and a maximum Combat Power of 4325. When its attack stat is paired with powerful moves like Counter and Aura Sphere, Mega Lucario can deal exceptional damage.

Moreover, with access to moves like Bullet Punch and Flash Cannon, Mega Lucario should prove to be a quality Steel-type attacker in PvE situations as well, though it likely won't be able to perform quite as well as the likes of Dusk Mane Necrozma or Shadow Metagross. Still, all indications point to Mega Lucario being a beastly Mega Evolution that should be a hit with fans who enjoy high-end raiding.

Predictions and the flux of the meta can still change and determine Mega Lucario's final role in Niantic's mobile title, but everything seems to be trending in a positive direction. Only time will tell to see if Mega Lucario lives up to the hype or not, but trainers will know for sure on July 27.
