The official Pokemon GO 8th Anniversary picture was released on the official website and there is a lot to take away from it. It is mind-blowing how a once simple augmented reality mobile game has managed to stay so relevant for eight years well into 2024. The Pokemon GO 8th Anniversary picture was created by Yusuke Kozaki (@kymg). People have already begun speculating possible features that might be added to Pokemon GO in future updates by analyzing the 8th Anniversary picture.

Five things to focus on in the Pokemon GO 8th Anniversary picture

1) Hibanny will be coming to Pokemon GO along with Sobble and Grookey

Hibanny, which is the Japanese name for Scorbunny, can be seen in the Pokemon GO 8th Anniversary picture. This picture leans heavily on Generation VIII Pokemon. The presence of all three Generation Starter Pokemon — Scorbunny, Sobble, and Grookey — has confirmed that more Generation VIII Pokemon will join the fray very soon.

2) Dynamax set to hop on the Pokemon GO bandwagon

The main highlight of the Pokemon GO 8th Anniversary picture is the Dynamax Wartortle in the middle. This new form might be coming to Pokemon GO sometime in 2024 or even later and will most likely be a new type of raid.

We have Mega Raids and Elite Raids in the game right now. Dynamax Raids are a huge possibility in the future of Pokemon GO. Data-miners did come across game files that show Dynamax Raid arenas but Niantic is known to switch things up and throw fans off the rail when it comes to implementing new features in Pokemon GO.

3) 2v2 Trainer battles might become a thing

In the Pokemon GO 8th Anniversary picture, we can see four Trainers going head to head on a grassy field with a great deal of monsters including Dusk Mane and Dawn Wings Necrozma, one on each side.

It could also be a face-off between four trainers who have to clear a preliminary battle to challenge the Dynamax Wartortle that we can see in the center of the picture.

4) Picnics in Pokemon GO

If we look closely at one of the Trainers present in the Anniversary picture, we can see them in front of what seems like a barbecue with ears of corn laid on top. This can be the Picnic feature that is very popular in games like Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet.

We might be able to set up Picnics to cook different food items to endow special abilities or enhance the existing abilities of certain Pokemon. If this becomes a feature, it will be interesting to see how Niantic implements Picnics in Pokemon GO.

5) New Pokemon GO mechanics

With new evolutionary forms on their way to the game, we might witness new in-game mechanics like the ones we saw with Pokemon Fusions. The addition of Necrozma in Pokemon GO led to the introduction of a new mechanic called Fusion. We might see the same with the addition of Dynamax and possible Gigantamax forms in the future.
