Pokemon GO's recent Necrozma Fusion Raid Day has been one of the better raid celebrations held in the popular mobile game. Not only was this a great event for players who do not mind spending a bit of money on the title, but also for those who enjoy the free-to-play experience.

A recent discussion regarding this event was held on the r/TheSilphRoad subreddit, where u/TinyGoyf shared their thoughts on the event. They prefaced their post by stating the following:

In their post, they praised Niantic for the great shiny odds from the event, as well as the high amounts of free Raid Passes given and the usage of Beast Balls. In the main series, Beast Balls only have a higher catch chance against defined Ultra Beasts like Nihilego and Buzzwole.

However, Pokemon GO's rendition of the capsule has a flat 20x catch multiplier when it is used, but Niantic completely controls what raids they are distributed for. Their use in the recent Necrozma Fusion Raid Day made catching this Legendary Pokemon much easier for trainers.

As pointed out by u/Schwermzilla, the only real downside of the event was its brief three-hour time span. While Niantic was more charitable with event times during the 2020 pandemic, this practice was quickly reversed as regulations were lifted for many places.

This is why timed events like the Raid Day and monthly Community Days are only active for three hours in the middle of the day, which is unfortunate for users with weekend jobs or other responsibilities. However, this event was a net positive for all those who were able to participate, even remotely.

Many players have expressed their enjoyment with this event, but u/bigpat412 brings up an interesting topic regarding G-Max Battles in Pokemon GO. With how often the community has been criticizing Niantic for G-Max raids, it is no surprise that the playerbase sings praises of an event surrounding standard Raid Battles, rather than Max Battles.

G-Max Battles are pitched as the most challenging fights in Pokemon GO by Niantic itself. However, the community has found getting lobbies to actually join these fights (thanks to the lack of remote access) to be the true challenge. The G-Max fights themselves are still the standard Pokemon GO "tap-to-win" gameplay.

As of this writing, there are still other Five-Star Raids planned for the future. While the current boss is a bit less exciting than Necrozma or its fusions, Chill Drive Genesect can prove to be a helpful ally for certain match-ups.

Additionally, Niantic has confirmed that Giratina will return to Pokemon GO in its Origin form starting on December 26, 2024, as a part of the Holiday Part 2 event. Furthermore, the GO Tour events in February and March (2025) will feature Zekrom and Reshiram as Five-Star Raid Bosses.
