There are a surprising amount of op Pokemon in the Galar region. Of course, many trainers end up grabbing their legendary, Dragapult and other high powered threats to just steamroll through the game.
There are plenty of other strong options, though, that are made available earlier in the game. Players might want to keep these options in mind next time they do a playthrough.
Which Pokemon from the Galar region get overlooked?
5) Barraskewda

This Water-type hits such a high speed tier that outspeeding it is practically unrealistic. Of course, with the Swift Swim ability, Barraskewda is a very popular pick on Rain teams.
What trainers might not realize, though, is that it’s so fast it can even get a jump on opponents outside of Rain. Trainers can simply slap a Choice Band on this and watch it pick up loads of KOs.
4) Grimmsnarl
This Dark/Fairy-type has a ton of different moves that can allow it to take down much stronger Pokemon. With the Prankster ability, Grimmsnarl ensures that its Thunder Waves, Taunts, Light Screens and Reflects are activating first.
Grimmsnarl gets another unique move in Spirit Break, which drops the opponent’s Special Attack while delaing damage. It could end up winning the 1v1 with op threats like Regieleki and Kyogre just by spamming this move.
3) Orbeetle
This odd little bug might have more setup options than any other Pokemon in the Galar region. It gets Calm Mind for Special Attacks, Iron Defense to boost Body Press, Power Swap, Light Screen and Reflect.
Orbeetle can also use Recover to heal up all the damage it takes while setting up. It can just buff its defensive stats until it has an enormously boosted Stored Power.
2) Runerigus
The alternate evolution to Yamask might be better than Cofagrigus. Runerigus gets access to the incredibly strong Iron Defense and Body Press combintion, but that’s not all. It can also Will-o-Wisp to cripple physical attackers and power up its own Hex attack.
1) Hatterene
Most of the Pokemon on this list have utility due to their setup capabilities. They can all, though, be Taunted, Poisoned, Burned, etc.. Hatterene is better than all of these other options because it can’t be Taunted or statused.
Magic Bounce reverses all incoming status attacks. This allows Hatterene to Calm Mind safely, and after that it can pick from a wide move pool of attacks. It can Giga Drain or Draining Kiss to get health back and then use Psychic, Psyshock, Mystical Fire, Dark Pulse or Shadow Ball for damage.
