Toxel is a poison and electric-type baby Pokemon introduced in Pokemon Sword and Shield. Toxel, and its evolution, Toxtricity is the first poison-electric combination type Pokemon the series has ever seen. Available as an egg at the Pokemon Nursery of Route 5, Toxel is based around different lizard and frog species, most notably a poison dart frog as well as a human baby due to how its tail and bottom half resembles a diaper.

Appearance of Toxel
Toxel is a purple lizard-like baby Pokemon with four spikes around its head and a white protrusion that resembles a lightning bolt. Toxel has its tongue sticking out of its mouth and nearly white circles on its cheeks resembling blush. Toxel stands on four legs and has a pale lavender-white spot on its chest, as well as a light purple lower half with lines running down the sides. This light purple lower half has a pointed tail that transitions into the rest of the lower half. These lighter elements on its body resemble a bib and a diaper, furthering the baby's resemblance. Toxel possesses two fingers and toes on each arm/leg, each with three spots on the bottom. Finally, Toxel has two white spots on its back.
Behavior of Toxel
Toxel is known to have temper tantrums, further leading to its comparisons to a human infant. Toxel has a poison sac that stores its poison and helps to secrete that poison through its skin. This poison can also be altered to conduct electricity which can also be secreted through its skin in order to cause a slight paralysis.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Like most baby Pokemon, Toxel is not meant to be very strong. Toxel has a relatively high special attack stat, making it effective at attacking with electrical or Poison-type moves, at least for a baby Pokemon. Despite this, Toxel has generally low defense, in regards to both its defense and special defense. However, Toxel has a very strong evolution with Toxtricity, which makes up for its weak start. As a poison-electric type, Toxel is strong against fairy, grass, flying, and water-types and weak to ground and psychic-type attacks.
Shiny Toxel
Shiny Toxel is a version of Toxel which has a pink tone instead of the traditional purple. Shiny Toxel maintains its white elements and its purple diaper, but the shade of purple is darker in this form.
Toxel's Evolution
Toxtricity is the Toxel evolution after it evolves starting at level 30. Toxtricity has its yellow, Amped Form if its nature is hardy, adamant, brave, naughty, docile, naive, impish, lax, hasty, jolly, sassy, rash, or quirky, while it has its blue, Low Key Form if its nature is bold, lonely, timid, relaxed, modest, mild, serious, quiet, calm, bashful, careful, or gentle. This unusual way of determining what form you can achieve makes it more difficult to determine which version you will get until after you obtain a Toxel. Toxel and the Toxel evolution, Toxtricity is the first poison-electric combination type Pokemon the series has ever seen.
Best Moveset
Like most baby Pokemon, Toxel is not meant to be very strong up until its evolution into Toxtricity. Belch is a powerful STAB (same-type attack bonus) move that can only be learned if Toxel has consumed a berry during the battle. To make up for this weakness, the moves Acid and Nuzzle are serviceable STAB moves that can be used before a berry is activated. Finally, Endure can be used to help make up for Toxel’s low defense until evolution.

FAQs
Q. Is Toxel a good Pokemon?
Toxel has a very strong evolution with Toxtricity, which makes up for its weak start, since like most baby Pokemon, Toxel is not meant to be very strong. Toxel has a relatively high special attack stat, making it effective at attacking with electrical or Poison-type moves, at least for a baby Pokemon. Despite this, Toxel has generally low defense, in regards to both its defense and special defense. These stats are all drastically improved with its evolution, making up for the fact that Toxel is weak on its own.
Q. How do you tell what Toxel will evolve into?
Toxtricity has its yellow, Amped Form if its nature is hardy, adamant, brave, naughty, docile, naive, impish, lax, hasty, jolly, sassy, rash, or quirky, while it has its blue, Low Key Form if its nature is bold, lonely, timid, relaxed, modest, mild, serious, quiet, calm, bashful, careful, or gentle.
Q. What level does a Toxel evolve?
Toxel evolves into Toxtricity starting at level 30.
Q. Is Toxel a rare Pokemon?
Toxel is not particularly rare, especially since Toxel is available as an egg at the Pokemon Nursery of Route 5. After this encounter, Toxel can be found in random encounters in Route 7, Hammerlocke Hills, Giant's Cap, Stony Wilderness, Bridge Field, Motostoke Riverbank, East Lake Axewell, North Lake Miloch, Motostoke Riverbank, Giant's Cap, Lake of Outrage, Giant's Mirror, as well as being accessible in Max Raid Battles in Hammerlocke Hills.
Q. Is Toxel worth using?
While Toxel is not very strong since it's a baby Pokemon, its strong evolution in the form of Toxtricty well makes up for this potentially weak start.
Conclusion
Toxel and Toxtricity are the first poison-electric combination-type Pokemon the series has ever seen. For this reason, along with the two separate evolution forms dependent on nature rather than training, Toxel and its evolution are the most unique Pokemon introduced in Pokemon Sword and Shield.
