Appearance
Turtonator is a bipedal Pokémon with a spiny shell that looks like a turtle, which is helped by the fact that only the limbs, tail, head, and neck are visible under its skin, which is a muted green. An extra shell with numerous points around the brim sits on top of its head and features a black center, a yellow center, and a red ring around the outside. It has a tubular, golden snout with a single, big nostril and black marks at the bottom of its eyes plus a large mouth with a jagged yellow line running from its snout that marks the bottom lip.
Turtonator's long neck has two short, triangular extensions on either side with mitten-like hands on its front legs, and claw-like red growths on its rear feet. Red plating with fin-like protrusion covers the majority of its tail while the red bottom of the shell that encases its body features a star-shaped, yellow-rimmed opening in the middle. The shell's back features a yellow core with four huge spikes with red bases create a star in the middle, and surrounded by four smaller spikes.
Behavior
This Pokémon may be found on volcanoes, where it hides amid the rocks and hunts for prey. Turtonator eats sulfur and other volcanic elements in addition to hunting and this high-explosive-material diet has resulted in an explosive-material layer in its shell. When a prey walks across its shell, it strikes its tail which causes an explosion and sparks from the spikes on its shell ignite the explosion, which is unleashed via a hole in its chest. Turtonator's weak spot is also its orifice and since moisture reduces its explosive powers, it seeks shelter in caverns on wet days. Its nostrils are also capable of releasing toxic gas and fire.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Turtonator is resistant against Fire, Grass, Bug, Steel, and Electric-type moves but weak against Ground, Rock, and Dragon-type moves.
Best Moveset
Turtonator has established itself as a dangerous Shell Smash sweeper in the PU metagame as its Fire / Dragon-type provides unresisted coverage against anything in the tier offensively. It is completely allowed to use a Z-Move like Devastating Drake to defeat blanket checks following a Shell Smash and can be set up against lesser physical attackers due to its physical size. But Turtonator's primary drawback is its slow speed, which means it can be easily outdone and revenge killed by ordinary Choice Scarves users after taking Stealth Rock damage, even after a Shell Smash.
Turtonator's main attraction is Shell Smash, which allows it to sweep weakened teams after it has built it up and dealt with the other team's vengeance killers, or breakthrough specialized fortified barriers. Fire Blast deals considerable damage with a 10% chance to burn the target, Draco Meteor is used in combination with Dragonium Z to maximize the Z-effectiveness Move's and achieve KOs on Pokemon that are out of Dragon Pulse's range. Turtonator's most spammable move is Dragon Pulse, which has no accuracy penalty and, unlike Draco Meteor, does not reduce Turtonator's Special Attack by two stages.
