Appearance
Vikavolt from a glance seems alien and unique, though take a moment to get a closer look, and you’ll see the inspiration from this Pokemon. Resembling beetles, it is all hard edges and angles. With opening mandibles, Vikavolt sports a dark blue yellow color palette, with an opening in the back for wings which allow it to fly. The only break from this color scheme is the red eye on the center of its body and its orange face with yellow eyes.
Behavior
With its powerful wings, Vikavolt is able to soar across the sky and often does so at high speeds and even higher altitudes. Capable of performing incredible acrobatic maneuvers, Vikavolt is an adept flier. Able to generate electricity within an organ in its body, Vikavolt can fire potent beams of energy, but if its predecessor Charjabug is nearby, this can be taken even further. When held in its legs, a Charjabug can empower Vikavolt to fire continuous, even more powerful bursts of energy; however this comes at the cost of reduction in Vikavolt’s aerial maneuverability. Still, should there be a reason to access more mobility, Vikavolt won’t hesitate to drop Charjabug to do so, rather unfortunate for its partner.
Strengths and Weaknesses
As mentioned before Vikavolt trades speed for power and while this Pokemon’s highest stat falls with Special Attack its poor Speed stat makes it hard for those powerful hits to land.
As a Bug/Electric type, Vikavolt is resistant to Fighting, Steel, Grass and Electric type moves, is immune to Ground types but weak against Rock and Fire type moves.
Shiny Vikavolt
Finding a Shiny Vikavolt is tricky due to the odds as the numbers are not in your favor. But the main difference between a normal and Shiny Vikavolt is obvious, as Shiny Vikavolt’s entire coloration is different. Now sporting a green/silver palette, Vikavolt in this variation looks even more alien as compared to its normal version. Its wings now have yellow and white stripes, and its orange face is now red in colour with green eyes. To get a Shiny Vikavolt of your own, you’ll have to find one in the wild, hatch one from eggs, or you could always find someone willing to trade one. Like all shiny Pokemon, Shiny Vikavolt gains a starry animation when it enters a battle.
Best moveset for Vikavolt
Bug Buzz | Volt Switch |
Energy Ball | Roost |
This moveset focuses on playing the long game, with a low Speed stat most hits will either miss or arrive too late as your opponent knocks out yout Pokemon. Instead of fighting head on, use Vikavolt to debuff your enemy so they’ll be easy pickings once you send in a Pokemon better suited to deal damage. Bug Buzz and Energy Ball both have the chance of lowering your opponent’s Special Defense. Meanwhile, Roost allows Vikavolt to restore half of its health without using an item, and Volt Switch is your panic button, allowing you to both damage and take Vikavolt out of the battle so they can be used another time.
How to catch Vikavolt in Pokemon Go?
At the moment, the easiest way to catch Vikavolt for yourself is to just walk around. It is a fairly common spawn around Pokestops and has a boosted spawn rate during windy weather, which will give a higher chance to encounter a Vikavolt. Once encountered, more often than not a simple Pokemon and a well placed throw are all that’s needed to ensure capture. To evolve a Grubbin to a Vikavolt, you will need one hundred and twenty five Candy.
