Appearance of Vulpix

Appearance of Vulpix

With features similar to a fox, Vulpix is a small quadruped Pokemon with brown fur and brown eyes. Sporting a cream underbelly and dark brown at their paws, a Vulpix’s most striking part of their appearance is no doubt their tails. With six curled tails and three locks of hair on its front, anyone can identify one of these Pokemon

Behavior of Vulpix

Behavior of Vulpix

Vulpix is known to be very intelligent, using tactics such as faking an injury to escape an attack from a stronger Pokemon. They are quite friendly, leading to them being a great companion when adventuring.

Strengths and Weaknesses

As Vulpix is a fire type, they will be highly effective against types such as Grass and Ice. As well as being resistant against them, fire attacks will lead to solid damage against Pokemon of those types. Just be careful, as Vulpix has low base HP, and a well-placed Water, Ground, or Rock attack may take it out of the fight entirely.

Alolan Vulpix

Alolan Vulpix

Drastically different from its Kanto counterpart, the Alolan Vulpix, found in the Alola region, is quite different from its original version. The Alolan Vulpix is an ice type, as evident by its pure white coat and light blue accents. Though different in some ways, the Alolan Vulpix is just as cute, effective, and dependable as its Kanto variation.

Shiny Vulpix

Shiny Vulpix

The Shiny Vulpix is a challenge to catch, let alone find in the wild. Featuring a yellow coat instead of brown, the Shiny Vulpix is drastically different from its original counterpart. The best method of getting a Shiny Vulpix for yourself is to hatch eggs and be patient.

Shiny Alolan Vulpix

Shiny Alolan Vulpix

The Shiny Alolan Vulpix is one that can easily be mistaken for a normal version. That’s because this version has minor changes that are hard to notice at first glance. With a light purple instead of blue, the Shiny Alolan Vulpix has small but subtle differences. Just be sure not to accidentally trade your Shiny Alolan Vulpix!

Best Moveset for Vulpix

DisableFacade
Fire SpinSunny Day

This moveset focuses on denying and trapping your opponent, then using fire-based attacks to finish them off. Disable prevents your opponent from using their last used move for four turns, and Facade doubles the Vulpix’s power if they are burned, paralyzed, or poisoned. Sunny Day empowers your fire-based attack, Fire spin, for five turns. Finish them off with Fire Spin, which traps and burns your opponent for five turns. Just be sure to keep that HP up, it’s risky, but this moveset more than rewards it.

Aurora VeilBlizzard
Freeze-DryHidden Power Ground

For the Alolan Vulpix, this moveset highly emphasizes a strong defense, proving effective not only in solo but in team battles as well. Aurora Veil halves the damage to allies for five turns. With the Light Clay item equipped that extends to eight turns. Blizzard has a 10% chance to freeze foes, 100% if battling in hail. Freeze Dry is the same as Blizzard only super effective against Water types. Finally, Hidden Power ground is always a versatile move to have.

How to Catch Vulpix in Pokemon Go

Catching a Vulpix in Pokemon go is a simple enough affair, as they’re common to find all over the place even without weather conditions. Using a Razzberry and anything above a normal Pokeball is almost a guaranteed catch.

Unfortunately finding an Alolan Vulpix is not so easy. They are not found in the wild, instead only available in 7km eggs. Your best bet is to get as many 7km eggs as you can, hatch them, and keep going until you have one. Alternatively, you can trade for one, but that may be easier said than done.

Trivia

Both the normal and Galarian versions of Vulpix can be found in the Super Smash Bros. franchise as a non-playable assist from the Pokeball item, helping out whoever throws the Pokeball.

Vulpix has the lowest HP out of all Fire based Pokemon

Vulpix’s original name was going to be Foxfire but was eventually changed.

Vulpix is one of the most recognizable and popular Fire types.

Having two evolutions, Vulpix was supposed to get a pre-evolution in Pokemon Gold and Silver, but the idea was scrapped.
