Being the first Community Day event of 2025, Niantic will want as many players to know about it as possible. The biggest part of the event to be reworked is the event ticket. It would be pushed through notifications, so players can buy it. The Pokemon GO subreddit is always quick to give their thoughts on said changes.
User u/Sklarlight brings up the topic of the new pricing for the Community Day event ticket, which was increased to $2. The likely cause for this is inflation. The Community Day ticket has always cost $1. With Niantic reworking the ticket, users would expect the rewards to get better to compensate, but this has sadly not been the case.
This particular combination of notifications reminded users like u/Wonderful_Shoe_4836 of the older days of Pokemon GO when players were sharing screenshots of the mobile game sending them push notifications in the middle of severe weather conditions.
User u/Realtalkmoe shares the instance of an awkwardly-timed push notification, encountering a Shiny Necrozma while being tempted to play Pokemon GO with the hope of seeing one. Many players also opt to turn off push notifications, so many users do not get the opportunity to see such moments.

What is the future of Community Days in Pokemon GO for 2025?
Not only has the event ticket increased in price, but the rewards have arguably gotten worse. Rather than rewarding the player with each stage of the spotlighted creature's evolution line, Sprigatito's event ticket, and likely the ones going forward, the game will reward players with three copies of the spotlight creature with a new special background.
Additionally, no Four-Star Raid Battles spawned during the Sprigatito Community Day, and this will likely be a trend going forward. This greatly cuts down the amount of content each of these events had, now solely relying on wild spawns to keep the players engaged. The new week-long timed research available to all players during the event is a positive addition..
