With Pokemon GO Fest 2024 concluding, users are reflecting on the event, with many of them finding it to be filled with fun Raid Battles and some decent wild spawns to fill the downtime. However, some trainers have noticed a significant downgrade in the quality of these wild spawns during the yearly event.

User West_Measurement9172 on the Pokemon GO subreddit shared their thoughts on the wild spawns that make an appearance during the yearly GO Fest event, reflecting on the events of old which featured much rarer creatures like Larvitar, Beldum, and Bagon. Many players in the forum post have shared this sentiment.

In the post, they expressed how a majority of GO Fest content revolves around raids, a form of gameplay that oftentimes requires players to pay for Raid Passes to play. While one can be received for free from spinning the photo disk located at any raid location once per day, those who want to grind out these battles for their rewards will have to spend around $2 for each additional pass.

User dahid commented that they feel like the increasing prices of the store have negatively affected the state of Pokemon GO events as well. With so many new creatures being introduced as Raid Bosses, many players end up having to spend money on Raid Passes in order to take full advantage of the debut.

This can be a huge turn-off for casual players, as many Pokemon GO players will avoid spending money on the game. This shift in focus towards Raid Battles could be done as a way to incentivize more players to spend money on the game during events. The rise in paid tickets could be a sign of this as well.

While many players are feeling the effects of Niantic pushing this paid premium content more in their events, others expressed that they feel many events simply are not worth participating in anymore.

User danmandxd echoes the sentiment that many users say when discussing Niantic and their monetization with Pokemon GO:

"Because first and foremost, Niantic is a business."

User 9DAN2 expressed their thoughts on the event by sharing their experience. They stocked up a large amount of the best commonly available Poke Ball variant in hopes of encountering some rare and high-value spawns. Unfortunately, a big focus of the event was put on the new forms of Necrozma and their appearance in Raid Battles.

Are Pokemon GO events worth participating in?

Hearing these complaints, it can be easy to feel like Pokemon GO simply does not have many events that benefit free-to-play users. However, there are still plenty of rotating events that offer players an increase in wild spawns.

Community Days and the weekly Spotlight Hours can provide casual players with the wild Pokemon they seek.

But here's to hoping Niantic takes note of the concern put forward by their valuable player base and brings changes that will reduce the disappointment.
