Thanks to Pokemon GO's Community Day for Fennekin on May 21, 2023, plenty of trainers are evolving the creature into Delphox. The Fire/Psychic-type is Fennekin's final evolution, vastly improving the Kalos starter Pokemon's battle capabilities. With a decent attack stat and an intriguing collection of moves, Delphox can be a useful niche player in many battle formats.
Although Delphox can perform in a decent capacity on its own, Pokemon GO players can improve its overall capability by outfitting it with the right moveset for the battles it will be participating in.
Depending on whether Pokemon GO players are using Delphox for PvE or PvP battles, the creature can utilize a different moveset to optimize its performance.

Selecting Delphox's movesets in Pokemon GO as of May 2023
The biggest change in Delphox comes courtesy of Fennekin's Community Day in Pokemon GO. The event has introduced two new Charged Moves for Delphox in the form of Blast Burn and Mystical Fire. This changes Delphox's applications in battle substantially, as the creature now has two more highly dependable and powerful Charged Moves to utilize in battles. However, simply outfitting Delphox with the hardest-hitting attacks will only carry it so far in a fight.
In PvE situations like raids or Team GO Rocket battles, Delphox tends to shine more as a pure Fire or Psychic-type attacker in Pokemon GO. This is due to trainers knowing what kind of opponents they're going up against when it comes to elemental type matchups.
However, enemies in PvP are much more varied and unpredictable, so Delphox will want to diversify the attacks it can use to give it better coverage against many different opponents, allowing it to continue dealing super effective damage regularly.
Recommended movesets for Delphox in Pokemon GO
- PvE - Fire Spin and Blast Burn or Zen Headbutt and Psychic
- PvP - Fire Spin, Flame Charge, and Psychic
With the movesets listed above, you can strike a great balance for Delphox that takes damage output, type advantages, and energy generation into account. As a Fire/Psychic-type Pokemon, Delphox benefits most from Fire and Psychic attacks, which receive the Same Type Attack Bonus (STAB).
For PvE, you can stick to using a pure Psychic or Fire-type moveset, and as long as you know your elemental type advantages, Delphox can reliably counter its opponents.
However, with PvP, you will want to broaden the scope of Delphox's moveset. Using both Fire and Psychic-type attacks will give the Kalos region starter expanded options and the ability to counter more opponents. Although Flame Wheel isn't Delphox's best Fire-type Charged Move, it has a much more dependable energy cost while still dealing good damage, allowing Delphox to use it more often in Pokemon GO PvP battles compared to the more expensive options like Blast Burn.
Although these movesets typically work well, you shouldn't hesitate to change them to better suit your own playstyle if needed. The mobile title's meta evolves at a very rapid rate, and you should always react accordingly when you feel the need to do so.
