Niantic has recently released information regarding a new line of creatures coming to Pokemon GO. Corviknight has been teased in Pokemon GO for quite some time now, being front and center on the loading screen during the 2024/2025 winter season, and we finally have confirmation that it will soon arrive on live servers.

Players who have yet to try the main series titles may want to know more about Corviknight, and why its arrival could be one of the most important releases of 2025 so far. Here is everything you should know about the Flying and Steel-type critter coming to Pokemon GO on January 21st.

As mentioned, Corviknight will be available starting January 21st as a part of the Steeled Resolve event. Players can hatch its base form, Rookidee from 2-kilometer eggs found during the event. Afterward, it can evolve into Corvisquire with 25 Rookidee candies, then into Corviknight for 100 Rookidee candies.

The best way for players to generate enough candies quickly to fully evolve their Rookidee would be to hatch as many eggs as possible, while also registering a Rookidee as their Buddy Pokemon. Doing so will help players generate Rookidee candies passively as they walk to hatch the eggs.

Everything to know about Corviknight in Pokemon GO

Corviknight is a Flying and Steel-type Pokemon, much like Skarmory, though the latter has a higher base defense stat. Its pre-evolved forms also have the advantage of being some of the only few pure Flying-types in the franchise. This gives Corviknight and its pre-evolved forms some serious potential in Pokemon GO's Battle League.

Corviknight will be able to utilize Steel Wing and Air Slash for fast attacks while having Drill Peck, Brave Bird, and Iron Head for charged attacks. That said, it lacks coverage options, limiting the number of advantageous match-ups. Interestingly, this flaw also applies to its pseudo-counterpart, Skarmory.

Another interesting detail about Corviknight is its short buddy walk distance, as it requires players to walk just one kilometer to get a bonus candy. Hence, compared to Skarmory — which requires 5 kilometers — Corviknight seems to be much more cost-effective.

In the main series, Corviknight has access to a Gigantamax form. With the new Max Pokemon still in the works for Pokemon GO, Gigantamax Corviknight could come to the mobile game soon. Given its high bulk, it will likely prove to be one of the more challenging Gigantamax Bosses compared to the ones released so far.
