Whimsicott Pokémon

Last Modified Jul 29, 2021 04:30 GMT

Whimsicott is one of the Pokemon that had its typing changed after the fairy type was added. Previously this fluffy cotton Pokemon was a pure grass type but now it is a dual grass/fairy type. Whimsicott is an epitome of soft fairy like creatures that it can behave almost like an octopus and can compress its body in order to fit through tiny gaps.

As long as this Pokémon bathes in sunlight, its cotton keeps growing. If too much cotton fluff builds up, Whimsicott tears it off and scatters it.

Appearance

Whimsicott Appearance

Whimsicott is a small bipedal Pokemon that has a brown body with cotton-like fluff that encompasses its body and head completely. It has leaf or vine-like structures on the sides of its head and its back. Not only that, it has orange, oval eyes and curled horns, or ears, that are green in colour, on either side of its face.

Behavior

Whimsicott is a notorious prankster Pokemon and uses its ability to squeeze through small gaps to move things around and leave cotton behind whenever no one is looking. Whimsicott is very light and is able to ride the wind due to its relative weight. However, when it's wet it becomes heavier than usual and sometimes can't even move.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Whimsicott’s typing, while not incredible, is still interesting as the fairy type is one of the more stranger types in the games. It is completely immune to dragon type moves and is resistant to fighting, ground, water, grass, electric, and dark type moves and takes half damage from them. It is, however, weak to flying, steel, fire, and ice type moves and takes double damage from them and is especially weak to poison type moves, taking quadruple damage from them.

Best Movesets for Whimsicott

All out Offense: Whimsicott may not look it but its typing makes it rather defensive which allows you to make its focus entirely on offensive moves. Combined with Choice Specs, to make up for its low offensive stats, it can use its speed and bulk to deal good damage over a long time.

Trivia

  1. In the Unova horoscope, Whimsicott represents the season of spring.
  2. While it's based on a cotton ball, its tendency to aimlessly be blown by the wind seems to imply that Whimsicott bears some relation to tumbleweed.
