Last Modified Sep 24, 2021 05:31 GMT

Xurkitree is one of the Ultra Beasts found in the post-game adventure of Generation VII and is known by the code name UB-03 Lightning. It is an electric-type Pokemon that resembles sparkling wires. As an Ultra Beast, Xurkitree can be caught after the events of the main game when the player is asked to assist the International Police, who have tracked Ultra Beasts under a secret division known as the UB Task Force. This is triggered by the incident at Aether Paradise where President Lusamine forced Cosmog to create an Ultra Wormhole in order to travel to Ultra Space. Xurkitree is the third Ultra Beast that the player is instructed to catch and although the Ultra Beasts are not Legendary. But they share characteristics with Legendary Pokemon as they all have unknown genders, they are in the Undiscovered egg group, they are scripted encounters, they have special battle music, they have at least three IVs of 31 and they have special Rotom Pokedex pages.

Appearance

Xurkitree is a remarkably tall Ultra Beast, similar to a humanoid electric wire. Its "head" is a white, mass of electric spark with a variety of spikes and no visible face. Under Xurkitree’s head is a torso and limbs made up of multiple wires. It has white ribbons that resemble zippers all over its body while its arms have ties where its joints should be. There are two cables on the upper arm and three on the lower arm with copper-like hand-like structures at the ends of each of its arms that have six flat "fingers". The legs are tied to its hips, knees and ankles and are fused together by four ropes over the entire length. The feet have four toes and exposed copper "claws", and each of Xurkitree’s feet have two connected toes pointing forward while two independent toes pointing backward. Finally, its tail has three cable ties and four cables, one of which is loosely divided into two parts. The tail ends in a form similar to a three-pronged plug. It is the largest electric-type Pokemon.

Behavior

Since this Ultra Beast allegedly attacked a power station, it is speculated that it sustains itself with electricity. When it has insufficient energy, it will "stick" its limbs and tail to the ground and transform into a tree-like state to absorb electricity from the earth. Witnesses said that its entire body was crackling with the astonishing electrical energy. According to Wicke of the Aether Foundation, the cables that make up its body are made of the same material as wires, making them highly efficient electrical conductors. Its body contains an energy-producing organ that can discharge up to 1,000,000 volts at a time.

Strengths and Weaknesses

As an Ultra Beast, Xurkitree has high stats resembling those of a legendary Pokemon, with a remarkably high special attack stat. For this reason, Xurkitree is an effective wallbreaker. As an electric-type Pokemon, Xurkitree is weak to only ground-type moves and is resistant to flying, steel, and electric-types.

Best moveset

Utilizing a wall breaker strategy, this moveset uses Tail Glow in order to raise Xurkitree’s already high special attack so it can deal as much damage as possible. After that this moveset focuses entirely on special attack moves, with Thunderbolt serving as Xurkitree’s STAB (same-type attack bonus) move, while the final two moves serve as type coverage.
