Zamazenta is the Legendary Pokemon mascot of Pokemon Shield and is the counterpart of the Pokemon Sword Legendary mascot, Zacian. Zamazenta is a fighting-type in its Hero of Many Battles form and a fighting and steel-type Pokemon in its Crowned Sword form. Zamazenta, along with Zacian, is a member of the Hero Duo. Zamazenta first appears in its Hero of Many Battles form within the Slumbering Weald and can be transformed into its main form, the Crowned Shield, which is achieved after giving it the Rusted Shield artifact.

Appearance
In its Hero of Many Battles form, Zamazenta is portrayed as a blue, wolf-like Pokemon with yellow eyes and a bulkier frame than Zamazenta’s and a ponytail on its head. Zamazenta has a white undercoat and a spot of blue fur on its forehead. Zamazenta has a multitude of scars across its body and is missing a part of its right ear. Its head and neck have thick fur resembling a shield. In Zamazenta’s Crowned Shield form it dawns a set of golden armor covering the front of its body like a shield. Zamazenta’s shielded exterior has two extension elements that resemble wings. This shield can adjust forward so Zamazenta can use Behemoth Bash or shield itself from frontal attacks. Zamazenta’s ponytail grows to cover most of its backside.

Zamazenta is known as the Fighting Master's Shield due to its ability to deflect any attacks. Zamazenta has a variety of magically-based abilities. Zamazenta is both feared and respected by all, with an uncrackable resolve. Zamazenta is known to be able to turn itself into a statue for a type of hibernation/slumber, as well as being able to cast illusions of itself, even while in this slumber. Zamazenta absorbs surrounding metal particles in the land. Within Pokemon lore, Zacian is either the elder sister or rival of Zamazenta. Zamazenta and Zacian together have the ability to negate the power of Eternatus at its strongest.
