The Asia Poker Tour (APT) has made its first stop of the year at Vietnam with some really exciting tournaments scheduled to take place in the 12-day series. The latest season began with APT Kickoff Vietnam 2019 at the Pro Poker Club, and who’s who of the Asian poker community have already made their way to the most awaited Asian poker tournament.
The series started off on 9th January 2019 and will continue till 20 January 2019. The first two days saw some smashing action at the tables, especially from the Indian bandwagon.
Way To Go Team India
Three Indians, Meherzad Munsaf, Vishal Tajpuria, and Shravan Chhabria managed to monetize their poker skills at the Monster Stack 1 – APT Kickoff’s very first tournament.
Munsaf cashed approximately INR 40,600 for 29th place. Shravan Chhabria and Vishal Tajpuria collected INR 70,100 (approx) each for finishing 17th and 15th respectively.
Speaking of Day 2 at the APT Kickoff, another event that found Indians at the helm of it was Event # 3 - Dafabet Head Hunter VND 2,000,000 Bounty. Meherzad Munsaf, one of the veterans of the Indian poker industry, was once again found contending strongly in the event.
Asian bookmaker Dafabet sponsored the first APT tournament, the Bounty Event managed to pull 60 entries. The field saw two Indian pros bagging and tagging chips after Day 1. One of them was Munsaf, who finished in the money in the Monster Stack 1. And, another Indian to progress into Day 2 was the recent WPT Vietnam Main Event winner Dhaval Mudgal. Currently, the field is down to fourteen hopefuls.
Munsaf and Mudgal from Team India have made an impressive start at the APT Vietnam edition. Quite coincidently, it was at the Pro Poker Club that Mudgal won his WPT title worth INR 73.58lakh. This is yet another chance for Mudgal to make the venue second time lucky. And, with a plethora of tournaments lined up in the APT series, it seems all possible.
