Marvel fans are excited for the upcoming TV series Daredevil: Born Again set to premiere on Disney+ early next year. The series, created by Matt Corman and Chris Ord, began filming in March 2023 and is anticipated to conclude in November of this year.
To note, the talented Charlie Cox will be reprising his role as Matt Murdock aka Daredevil in the series. His performance in the Netflix series focusing on the Marvel superhero received a lot of positive reviews from fans and critics.
Although originally created for Netflix, the streaming platform canceled all the Marvel shows when Disney, Marvel's parent company, started preparing to launch its own streaming service. In 2022, Disney regained the licenses for the shows, and Marvel's Daredevil began streaming on Disney+ on March 16.
With regards to the timeline, reports suggest that Daredevil: Born Again is not a sequel to the 2015 series, and should be considered as a reboot. At D23 Expo 2022, Cox chatted with Extra TV and shared:
"My feeling is, based on the title, Born Again, I think the sense is that it's going to be a new beginning."
Not much has been revealed about what viewers can expect in terms of the storyline, but as expected, there has been a lot of speculation regarding the cast members of Daredevil: Born Again.
The latest reports have revealed that Clark Johnson will be joining the cast, and will be donning two hats, i.e., of actor and director. It is not surprising that the news made headlines because this is the first time in MCU history that one of the directors of a Marvel Studios Disney+ show also appears in a non-cameo role.
Johnson is not the only confirmed cast member who will be joining Daredevil: Born Again, a few other names have also been revealed over the last few months.
3 actors who will be joining Charlie Cox in Daredevil: Born Again
1) Clark Johnson
Johnson has plenty of experience in both TV and films. He is best known for his work in Night Heat, Homicide: Life on the Street, and The Wire, among others. When it comes to direction, he has worked on many popular shows including S.W.A.T., Homeland, The Walking Dead, Taken, Accused, and more.
The upcoming season of Daredevil: Born Again will have 18 episodes in total, and according to reports, Johnson will be directing two of them. Due to Marvel's tendency to keep new information under wraps, little is known about the character he is portraying, but it is probable that he will play a recurring character who will appear throughout the show.
2) Sandrine Holt
The actor made her acting debut in a 1989 episode of Friday the 13th: The Series. In terms of the feature film, she made her debut in Black Robe in 1991. Fans know the actor from her work in popular TV shows like Homeland, Macgyver, The Expanse, House of Cards, and more.
In Daredevil: Born Again, she will reportedly be playing the role of Vanessa Fisk, who is married to the crime boss Kingpin. Earlier actor Ayelet Zurer had played the role in Marvel's Daredevil. Fans will be looking forward to her portrayal of the character and how she makes it her own.
3) Jon Bernthal
Bernthal's portrayal of Shane Walsh in The Walking Dead helped put him on the map. But Marvel fans know him as Frank Castle aka The Punisher. A vigilante, The Punisher wants to clean up Hell's Kitchen and he is willing to do so by any means necessary.
Fans and critics have raved about the actor's portrayal as the Punisher, and many believe that it is one of the best adaptions of the Marvel character to date.
Fans will be happy to know that Bernthal will be reprising his role as the vigilante in the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again. Since he has appeared in Marvel's Daredevil, and The Punisher, fans are well-acquainted with the character but it will be interesting to see what more he will bring to the table in Daredevil: Born Again.
In addition to these three actors, it has been confirmed that Michael Gandolfini, Margarita Levieva, Arty Froushan, and Nikki M. James will also be joining the cast of Daredevil: Born Again. Although fans still have a long wait ahead of them, they can rest assured that something exciting is coming their way, given the interesting cast choices.
