Harris responds to recent remarks about her family
Arkansas GOP Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders recently suggested that Kamala Harris has nothing keeping her humble, stating that Harris doesn't have children. Then, on October 6, 2024, Harris appeared on the Call Her Daddy podcast, wherein the host Alex Cooper asked Harris to respond to Sanders' comment.
Responding to the same, Harris said:
"I don't think she understands that there are a whole lot of women out here who, one, are not aspiring to be humble, two, a whole lot of women out here who have a lot of love in their life, family in their life and children in their life."
Harris further shared that she is the stepmother to her husband Doug Emhoff's children from his previous marriage, Cole and Ella, who call her "Momala." The Vice President mentioned that some have their family by blood and some by love, while she has both, which she considers a blessing.
Talking about how family comes in different forms, Kamala Harris stated:
"Children form attachments and you really wanna be thoughtful about it. So I waited to meet the kids, and they are my children. And I love those kids to death — and family comes in many forms. And I think that, increasingly, you know, all of us understand that, you know, this is not the 1950s anymore."
In other news, Kamala Harris recently gave an interview with CBS News' 60 Minutes, aired on October 7, 2024. During the interview, Harris was asked if the public really knew her, given she has changed her position on various things in the past.
Harris responded by stating that in the last four years, she has traveled the country listening to people and trying to get a hold of common ground. She stated that she believes in building consensus and this is what American people want from their leaders.
