Season 2 of Arthdal Chronicles explores the upcoming battle between Eunseom and Tagon.
Did Eunseom manage to create a better world with Tanya and Saya? Arthdal Chronicles season 2 ending explained
The opening of the last episode of Arthdal Chronicles season 2 shows Queen Taealha attempting to negotiate with Eunseom. However, they ultimately fail to reach a conclusion, while Tanya remains in her possession from the preceding episode.
The scene then shifts to Tanya's father, Yeolson, standing on the high castle walls. He refuses to share his ideas regarding the usage of iron as he threatens Tagon and Taeleha and demands that they release his daughter. Subsequently, the distressed King of Arthdal, Tagon, pushes him down, leading to Yeolson's demise in Arthdal Chronicles season 2.
Meanwhile, the dejected King Tagon plans the end of Arthdal and its people by hatching a conspiracy to mix poison, Bichwisan, into the rivers in the country. He does this to make the country uninhabitable for years, ensuring that Eunseom cannot rule over it.
Upon learning of Tagon's plan, Queen Taelha attempts to stab him but is unable to do so, and ends up embracing him.
Finally, the action begins in Arthdal Chronicles as Eunseom, with the help of Momo Tribe's leader Karika and the Neanthal, attacks Arthdal. Soldiers from both the Ago Clan and Arthdal Clan start killing each other.
As Eunseom is engaged in a fight with the tribe, Tagon seizes the opportunity and takes Tanya to an isolated area where he has stored the poison he intends to release into the river. He also sends a messenger to inform Eunseom about the same so that he can come and save Tanya in Arthdal Chronicles.
However, to everyone's surprise, Saya arrives at the scene with Tagon's son, Arok, and threatens to kill him if he doesn't release Tanya.
Subsequently, Tagon releases Tanya only because he wants to prevent the poison, Bichwisan, from flowing into the rivers of Arthdal and so that she can save the country. Even though he had initially planned on poisoning Arthdal, he couldn't bring himself to do it because the country was the one thing he cherished throughout his lifetime. In a particular scene, he makes a plea to Tanya to save Arthdal and to rescue the country from his greed.
He also attacks Saya for taking his son captive. In the midst of the fight, as he is about to end Saya's life, he sees his reflection in his mirror amulet, recalling Asa Sakan telling him that he will die the moment he sees the reflection of the person who is about to kill him. Subsequently, Eunseom rushes to the scene and stabs the King.
Meanwhile, as the two engage in combat, Tanya succeeds in preventing the poison from entering the river. However, some amount of poison had already been thrown into the river previously by a soldier, who was signaled to do the same by Tagon. Tanya ultimately sacrifices herself by jumping into the river.
As Eunseom discovers that Tanya has ingested the poison, the Queen arrives at the scene and offers him a deal. Queen states that if she provides the antidote for the poison consumed by Tanya, they will allow her and her son, Arok, to be free. She then embraces her husband Tagon and kills him.
The scene then shifts to Arthdal, where both Tanya and Eunseom make the people believe that the latter will be able to provide them with a righteous life. Tanya convinces people that he is the true leader and the reincarnation of Aramun, and Eunseom picks up the sword, revealing veins that symbolize the true king, Aramun and Inaishingi.
After his acceptance as King, Tanya falls into a deep sleep due to the effects of the poison in Arthdal Chronicles.
Will there be a season 3 of Arthdal Chronicles?
As years passed, King Eunseom found it challenging to resolve all of Arthdal's problems. He also received news that Tanya had awakened from her long slumber, prompting him to rush to her and embrace her.
Meanwhile, Saya and Queen Taealha were seen planning an attack on Arthdal separately, while the Queen's son, Arok, had grown up. Neanthal Nunbyeol also departed with her people's community, leaving her sister behind.
It is now evident that numerous unanswered questions remain in Arthdal Chronicles. These include the sudden capture of Saya by unknown individuals, Queen Taealha's plan to recapture Arthdal, and Eunseom's wish to create a world free from evil. The question of how Saya, Eunseom, and Tanya, the children of prophecy, will collaborate to create a better world also remains unaddressed.
However, there is no official news from tvN regarding the renewal of the fantasy drama for season three. Nevertheless, fans hope for another season as they wish to see what fate has in store for their favorite characters.
K-drama fans eagerly anticipate the announcement of Arthdal Chronicles season 3, and can't wait to see what it will possibly bring to the table.
