On September 25, 2024, Donald Trump took to X (formerly Twitter) claiming that he was threatened with his life by Iran. In his tweet, the former president mentioned:

"Big threats on my life by Iran. The entire U.S. Military is watching and waiting. Moves were already made by Iran that didn’t work out, but they will try again. Not a good situation for anyone. I am surrounded by more men, guns, and weapons than I have ever seen before."

Moreover, the former president thanked Congress for their united approval of passing the legislation to enhance security for all presidential candidates. He also praised Republicans and Democrats getting together on something. Toward the end of the tweet, the former president claimed:

"An attack on a former President is a Death Wish for the attacker!"

Trump's campaign claims Iran is terrified of the former president's strength and resolve

On September 24, 2024, Trump's campaign website published a press release from Steven Cheung, the Campaign Communications Director. In the press release, Steven mentioned that the Office of the Director of National Intelligence briefed the former president regarding "real and specific threats from Iran" to assassinate him, with the aim of destabilizing and creating chaos in the United States.

The press release also stated that intelligence officials have identified how the coordinated and constant attacks have increased in the last few months. It also mentioned that law enforcement officials across every agency are working to ensure that the former president is protected and that the upcoming election isn't intervened with.

Toward the end of the press release, Trump's campaign claimed:

"Make no mistake, the terror regime in Iran loves the weakness of Kamala Harris, and is terrified of the strength and resolve of President Trump. He will let nothing stop him or get in his way to fight for the American people and to Make America Great Again."

As per BBC, there have been a series of assassination attempts on the former president, starting with the one that took place on July 13, 2024, at his rally in Pennslyvania. During the attack, the bullet went by the former president's ear and did not cause him any grievous injury.

Just days after the former president was attacked in Pennslyvania, US media reported that officials had received information of an alleged Iranian plot against Trump. However, the allegations were termed malicious by Iranian officials, as reported by CBS on July 17, 2024.

Moreover, on July 26, 2024, Trump took to the social media platform Truth Social to comment on the possibility of Iran assassinating him and mentioned:

"If they do 'assassinate President Trump,' which is always a possibility, I hope that America obliterates Iran, wipes it off the face of the Earth - If that does not happen, American Leaders will be considered 'gutless' cowards!"

Additionally, in August 2024, the former president's campaign alleged that some of its internal communications, including JD Vance's internal researched documents, were hacked and targeted by Iranian operatives. Apart from the allegations, the campaign did not submit evidence or more details linking the document leak to Iran.

In other news, on September 15, 2024, a Secret Service agent discovered a rifle making its way through a fence at the Trump International Golf Club located in West Palm Beach, wherein the former president was playing golf.

While US prosecutors charged the man with the rifle called Ryan Wesley Routh, with the attempted assassination of a presidential candidate, there is no conclusive proof of Iran's involvement in the activity.
