The latest episode of Billions has a lot going on in its one-hour runtime. For one, it finally sees Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti) do something concrete in his quest to stop Mike Prince (Corey Stoll), who for the first time is hit by something negative. Prior to this episode, Prince has had back-to-back wins since the season began.
Chuck does not do this in the most respectable way, and it felt more like a personal vendetta for him than a win for the people, as he claimed.
This episode also has some celebrity appearances, which comes as a real shock to the fans. Needless to say, social media handles like Twitter are flooded with reactions from fans. Check out the fan reactions to Billions season 6, episode 8.
Billions fans react to Chuck's first blood
Chuck relentlessly chased after Mike Prince for the last few episodes, to the point that he resorted to a personal vendetta against Mike instead of actually fighting for the people. Fans have reacted to Chuck in a mixed way, with some pointing out Chuck's selfish nature, while some celebrating his victory.
It seems more viewers have shifted to Mike Prince's side, pointing out how whatever Chuck did was unjust, and Prince did nothing to deserve it. Some fans are even rooting for Chuck Rhoades to fail, something that has rarely happened in the past seasons of Billions. Fans are also accusing Chuck of having an inferiority complex.
It seems that this episode has generated a lot of hatred against the character played by Paul Giamatti. It is yet to be seen if the writers will continue this treatment for the rest of the season.
An unexpected guest appearance
This episode of Billions had a very unexpected visitor- the captain of the USA's women's soccer team, Megan Rapinoe. The prolific player was a surprise entry and played herself in the episode. Fans of the show were visibly impressed by her presence.
It is no surprise that there have been so many positive reactions to Megan Rapinoe, given her popularity in the sports world.
