On November 13, 2024, American actor Billy Baldwin took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his concern about losing followers. In his tweet, Billy questioned how many people had left the platform and mentioned:
"I'm down 12,000+ followers. Wonder how many were bots and how many left cuz of Elon? Where do you think is the best platform to go after leaving Twitter?"
In the tweet, Billy Baldwin's reference toward Elon Musk is related to prominent figures like Jamie Lee Curtis and Don Lemon leaving X after Trump announced Musk was going to be a part of his cabinet.
Billy's tweet garnered 1.2 million views since it was posted and netizens were quick to react to the actor's doubts. Answering his question on which platform should one join after leaving X, a user tweeted:
"I'm down 37,000. Bluesky is rockin', for sure. No throttling of content, either."
"I'm down about 28K. Also lost about 20,000 people who I follow" an X user commented
"Im down 6K,,, and I’ve gone over to blue sky 🦋 "another X user stated
"Have lost well over 1500 in the last week. Many are off to Bluesky given the requests I have had there in the last 48hrs. Many see X as turning in to Truth Social on crack" an internet user mentioned
"curiously, the purge all started on election night and has continued for the past week. I am down about 6000, and blue sky is definitely the best place to go." another internet user said
Moreover, some internet users also commented on Billy Baldwin losing followers due to his opinions:
"You’re down in part because of bot removal and in part because people don’t like what you have to say." an X user tweeted
"Maybe people just do not like you celebrity elites. Just saying" another X user said
"His endorsement of Trump demonstrates his political cowardice"- Billy Baldwin expresses discontent with Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
While Billy Baldwin's recent tweet questioning the presence of bots and Elon Musk on X has garnered a lot of traction, the actor took to the social media platform on August 26, 2024, to disavow his long-time friend Robert F. Kenndy Jr. for endorsing Donald Trump.
In a lengthy tweet, Billy mentioned that he had known Bobby Kennedy Jr. for decades and that he loved his politics. The Sliver actor added that Bobby's speeches inspired him, they were neighbors, their children were friends, and they carpooled their kids to school for a few years.
Commenting on Bobby endorsing Trump in the 2024 presidential elections, Billy mentioned:
"His endorsement of Trump demonstrates his political cowardice. He has sold his political soul and desecrated the historic work and legacy of his father Robert and his uncle President John Kennedy."
Sharing that Bobby Kennedy had presidential ambitions all his life, Billy said that in 2006 Bobby considered running for New York State Attorney General's office after Elliot Spitzer left the office to run for governor. That position could have led Bobby to the US Senate or Governor of New York and ultimately the presidency, however, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. didn't run. He cited that his financial responsibility to his six children from two marriages couldn't be covered by a government salary.
Billy Baldwin added that Hillary Clinton vacating her New York Senate seat in 2008 was another opportunity for Bobby Kennedy Jr., however, he didn't pursue the same. The actor also said that endorsing Trump was a betrayal of the values of traditions of the Kennedy family and of Bobby's own political beliefs.
In other news, in a recent video posted by Billy Baldwin's wife Chynna Phillips on YouTube on November 3, 2024, the actor and his wife confessed to living in separate houses. The confession garnered a lot of attention, given the duo is still together and recently celebrated 30 years of marriage. However, they said that they are happy with their living arrangement.
