Breaking Bad stars Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul have remained close friends even a decade after the show concluded. The show that brought the two actors together is also the platform that brought them fame for their remarkable performances.
With such a successful series in the background, fans are delighted to catch a glimpse of the two actors on and off-screen every now and then.
The two were known to have taken a liking for each other on the first day of filming for Breaking Bad and have remained close to each other since. Here are some instances that speak volumes of their continued friendship over the years.
Bartending for Drake, Super Bowl advertisement, and 3 other heartfelt moments between the Breaking Bad actors
1) Bartending at Drake’s birthday bash
Singer-rapper Drake celebrated his 37th birthday on October 24, 2023, with a bash in Miami and the Breaking Bad stars Cranston and Aaron turned up at the party as bartenders, mixing cocktails.
The duo stood next to each other on the other side of the bar talking and serving guests. Fans believe that it may have been a promotion for their own Mezcal brand.
2) Breaking Bad duo featuring in a chips ad for Super Bowl 2023
Another recent event where the lead duo from the show were seen together, is an advertisement for PopCorners for the Super Bowl 2023. The actors reprised their roles of Walt and Jesse and cooked up a batch of the air-fried chips in the brand’s signature trailer truck.
They tweaked the dialogue to fit in with the advertisement while staying true to the show.
3) Breaking Bad’s Cranston becomes the godfather of Paul’s second baby
While speaking to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show in April 2022, Aaron Paul spoke about welcoming his second child, baby boy Ryden Caspian, and asking Bryan to be the child’s godfather
“He’s very excited, very honored. I love the man to death. He’s one of my best friends in the world, so it was just a no-brainer,” Paul said.
4) Reprised their characters in Breaking Bad sequel movie and spinoff series after many years
In 2019, Netflix came up with a Breaking Bad sequel movie named El Camino, and the two leads came together in their characters. The movie was meant to give closure to Paul’s Jesse and Cranston arrived in a praiseworthy cameo.
Again, the two played their famous roles in the AMC spinoff named Better Call Saul. Paul, who played Jesse Pinkman, believes this could be the last time he played the character.
5) The Breaking Bad lead actors launched a Mezcal line together as business partners
In July 2019, Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul announced their Mezcal line named Dos Hombres, which translates to “two guys on a quest”. Their brand offers artisanal alcohol handmade in Mexico. The two friends had started the business together on the basis of the special bond they developed while shooting for the BB show together.
In 2020, their Mezcal won an award in the New York International Spirits Competition.
While the above-mentioned moments are just a few of the instances which prove the special bond between Cranston and Paul, there are many more similar examples of their friendship.
From the joint cover story for the January 2022 Esquire edition to gate crashing each other’s birthday party, the duo have kept their bond intact.
