Brian Cox's 007: Road to a Million takes adventure junkies on Bond-inspired challenges for a £1,000,000 bounty
Prime Video dropped a new teaser trailer for its upcoming reality TV show inspired by 007, one of the most popular spies in pop culture, and the legacy built around it. The trailer showcases nine pairs of people from all over the world who go on a global adventure to complete tasks recreated from popular Bond movies.
As IMDb puts it:
"Nine pairs of everyday people are unleashed on an epic global adventure through a series of Bond-inspired challenges, for a shot at winning a life-changing £1,000,000 prize."
The trailer showcases contestants climbing cranes high as the sky, walking on running trains, driving the classic Aston Martin DB5 down scenic roads, and flying helicopters over lofty snow-capped peaks. The glimpses of the show that were revealed include a voiceover of the Academy Award-winning actor Brian Cox.
The official description of the show tells viewers the role Cox is set to play in 007: Road to a Million:
“Cox acts as “The Controller,” the “on-screen mastermind behind the game, who dictates where the pairs go, what they must do, and sets their questions. He monitors each pair’s quest, delighting in the unfolding drama of his intricately devised and often relentless challenge.”
Brian Cox says in the trailer before his look is revealed:
"I put real people into a James Bond adventure to win a million pounds. The only thing standing in their way is me."
The hefty prize money of a million pounds, which translates to $1.2 million, is in the hands of The Controller, who decides on the gameplay and hides ten questions all around the world for the teams to look for.
The contestants need to find answers to the questions by completing the James Bond-inspired tasks, which further test their mental resilience in addition to physical strength. Once complete with the answer to the question, the team receives the money and moves on to the next challenge. Failure leads to elimination.
The producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson will be involved in 007: Road to a Million as they license James Bond for an unscripted show meant for entertainment purposes. The production houses involved are 72 Films and MGM Television, with the show being produced as a film entity under EON Productions.
The release of 007: Road to a Million will add to the energy-packed television time as Netflix's Squid Game: The Challenge premiers on November 22, 2023.
