Demi Moore won the Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy Award at the 82nd Golden Globes on Sunday (January 5, 2025) night for her role as the female lead Elisabeth Sparkle in the body horror movie, The Substance.
It marked her first-ever Golden Globe win after missing out three times before in her four decades-long career. In the wake of her feat, her fans are lauding the 62-year-old actress online for her comeback, while ridiculing her former husband and actor, Ashton Kutcher, 46.
While Demi Moore was at the Beverly Hilton Hotel for the 2025 Golden Globes over the weekend, Ashton Kutcher, who’s 16 years younger than her, attended the WWE Raw on Netflix live broadcast at the Intuit Dome. Both venues are located in Inglewood, California, not too far from each other.
Here are some of the reactions from X users booing Ashton Kutcher and praising Demi Moore.

Others continued to chime in.
“I just watched her acceptance speech and thought the same thing. I’d be happy to never see his face again,” a netizen wrote.
“That’s a full-circle moment! Demi out here thriving while Ashton’s on the sidelines. Justice in action!” another netizen wrote.

“Demi's success feels even sweeter knowing how things have come full circle!” wrote another.
During her acceptance speech at the Golden Globes, Demi Moore shared how she was labeled as a “popcorn actress” at the start of her career, which affected her confidence.
“I believed that and that corroded me over time to the point where I thought a few years ago that maybe this was it. Maybe I was complete, maybe I’ve done what I was supposed to do,” she shared.
However, during one such “low point” in her life, she came upon a “magical, bold, courageous, out of the box” script, aka, The Substance, which according to her was the universe’s way of letting her know that she was “not done.”
Exploring the relationship timeline of Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher
Demi Moore began dating Ashton Kutcher in 2003 after meeting each other at a dinner party. In May of that year, the now-former pair were spotted on a double date with now-disgraced hip-hop mogul, Sean “Diddy” Combs and his then-partner and late model-actress, Kim Porter.
Two years later, in September 2005, they tied the knot at an intimate ceremony at their Beverly Hills home. Moore was at the peak of her career when she began her relationship with Kutcher by doing back-to-back films including Ghost, Indecent Proposal, Striptease, and G.I Jane, among others.
Despite her fame, she took a break from mid-2003 to 2006, before returning with Bobby, a film that also had a guest appearance from Ashton. Unfortunately, Demi couldn’t deliver a proper comeback and had consecutive flops. In fact, The Guardian’s Peter Bradshaw wrote in his review of Half Light that the actress “may wish to forget about the whole business.”
Speaking to the New York Times in 2010, she even said that in the “youth-driven society,” it was hard for her to find “creatively satisfying” roles for herself.
Meanwhile, Ashton Kutcher’s career took off with hits including the TV series, That 70s Show, and Two And A Half Men to movies including The Guardian, Killer, No Strings Attached, and What Happens in Vegas, among others.
While Demi Moore told Elle Magazine in 2010 that they continued to be “equal partners” despite different career graphs, the following year in November, the pair announced their separation.
In December 2012, Ashton Kutcher filed for divorce at a Los Angeles court citing irreconcilable differences. At the time, Demi made headlines for famously seeking spousal support and money for her legal fees.
However, in November 2013, their divorce was finalized with the settlement that neither party would pay spousal support. In her 2019 memoir Inside Out, Demi Moore later claimed that she “put him first” and tried to be the “wife” Ashton Kutcher wanted her to be. She also accused him of being unfaithful on more than one occasion.
The Punk’d actor has never addressed the allegations. Subsequently, in July 2015, he married actress Mila Kunis after dating for three years. The couple share two kids.
Meanwhile, Demi Moore also has three daughters with her second husband, actor Bruce Willis. They were married between November 1987 and October 2000. Despite the end of their marriage, they have continued to remain co-parents and close friends.
Demi whose maiden surname is Gene adopted Moore, which was the last name of his first husband and musician Freddy Moore with whom she was married from 1981 to 1985.
Over the years, Ashton Kutcher’s career has seen a low, especially after he and his wife Mila Kunis wrote a now-infamous letter in support of convicted s*x offender and former actor, Danny Masterson in July 2023. He has also faced criticism for his close association with Sean “Diddy” Combs, who’s now also facing s*xual misconduct charges.
Ashton, who has kept a low profile since her 2019 vasculitis diagnosis, last appeared in the February 2023 Netflix rom-com, Your Place or Mine, which earned mixed reviews. Meanwhile, Demi Moore was praised by critics and fans alike for his much-acclaimed role in The Substance.
Her friends and family are now celebrating her win on social media. Her three daughters were also present with her at the Golden Globes on Sunday night and cheered for her as she accepted the Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy Award.
The film has reportedly grossed $77 million at the box office since its May 2024 release at Cannes.
