A creative designer from the Navajo Nation in Arizona, skateboarder Di'Orr Greenwood has teamed up with Nike SB to bring her exceptional ideas to life in the shape of a sleek SB Dunk High partnership that will be released in 2024.

Greenwood's take on the Nike SB Dunk High features a vibrant color scheme, with a combination of brown and aqua tones on the side columns of the shoe. This partnership features an appearance that is inspired by Decon, distinguishing it from the conventional SB Dunk versions.

It also has a visible foam tongue flap and a smaller ankle collar area than the original model. Notable improvements include the visually appealing rainbow decorations on the tongue flap as well as the heel tab, as well as her name decorating the tongue tags.

These are two of the most prominent new features. As a way to show respect for her heritage, the insoles of her shoes feature an image of the arid environment of Arizona.

Nike's SB Dunk would not have existed if Swoosh had not introduced the Dunk style. Nike traces the Dunk style's roots and states,

“From backboards to skateboards, the influence of the Nike Dunk is undeniable. Although introduced as a basketball shoe in 1985, its flat and grippy soles were perfect for a neglected sports community—skaters.”

It continues,

“Uncovering a subculture craving creativity as much as function, the Dunk released decades of countless colorways that continue to capture the soul of skaters from coast to coast.”

The Nike SB Dunk High collab by Di'orr Greenwood incorporates bright colors, one-of-a-kind design components, and an homage to her Navajo background in order to present a modern interpretation of this famous style of sneakers. Skateboarders and sneakerheads alike will be able to get their hands on it in 2024.

Skateboarding has played a significant role in Di'orr Greenwood's life in a variety of ways, including her work as a skateboarding coach, her pursuit of a degree in architecture, her skating for Apache Skateboards, and her participation in a documentary that won an award and was filmed on the San Carlos Reservation.
