Former 16 and Pregnant star Jenelle Evans was officially granted complete custody of her son Jace Evans in March 2023, after a long-drawn custody battle. Over a decade ago, in 2010, Jenelle gave custody of her son to her mother after the star was arrested for the possession of marijuana and breaking and entering. While Jenelle got the custody of her son back, it is being reported that Jace is temporarily in the care of his grandmother again.
According to a report that was published by Page Six in September 2023, Jace had run away from home a third time. The publication noted that the 14-year-old had reportedly snuck out of a window and was missing for as many as 16 hours. The police were called to the location to look for Jace, who found him the next day.
Child Protective Services (CPS) is investigating the teenager's claims that his stepfather, Jenelle's husband, David Eason had assaulted him.
Jenelle Evans' son was allegedly assaulted by her husband
When Jenelle Evans finally received full custody of her 14-year-old son Jace in March 2023, things were looking up for the reality star. She also confirmed that her mother, Barbara, was fine with the decision to give up the custody. Jenelle Evans took to Instagram on March 19, 2023, to reveal to her 3.1 million followers that she had finally officially got custody of her son.
Things seemed fine for a while with Jace and Jenelle Evans seen in multiple Instagram pictures together, looking happy. However, things seemed to fall apart for Jace and his mother.
As mentioned earlier, Jace tried to run away from home on Thursday, September 28, 2023, and it was the third time he tried to run away. The Ashley's Reality Roundup revealed that Jenelle Evans and her husband David Eason were being investigated by CPS, even before Jace tried running away.
A police report obtained by the outlet noted that the teen had revealed to his grandmother that Eason had allegedly assaulted him, leading him to run away. However, his mother took to social media to state that her son had run away due to girlfriend issues. It was also reported that the teen was furious at his mother because of what she said about him on social media.
The report states that Barbara told the police that Jace had wanted her to come pick him up, but she couldn't do so as it would lead to legal custody issues. The Ashley's Reality Roundup revealed that the teen was found by the police on Friday and was taken to a North Carolina hospital. It was noted that his grandmother was also spotted at the hospital.
Soon after this, on October 3, 2023, Jenelle Evans took to X, formerly Twitter, to talk about what her mother was doing. She also tweeted how she wished she had one parent who was "stable enough to talk to."
"Honestly idk why my own mother is acting the way she is. I feel now she’s using police to falsely report just trying to make us look bad as a family," Jenelle wrote on X.
She added that there were multiple people involved in the situation and that they were aware of the truth as was God." The reality star also responded to some of the responses she got on her previous tweets.
Amidst the ongoing CPS child abuse investigations into Eason, CPS reportedly took custody of Jason. However, Barbara petitioned to regain the boy's custody in a North Carolina court and got his custody on October 10, 2023. He is in his grandmother's custody for now as the CPS investigations continue.
The Teen Mom star has since put out multiple Instagram posts speaking out against her mother, claiming that the allegations were false.
A source revealed to The Ashley's Reality Roundup that Jace is thrilled to be back with his grandmother Barbara and allegedly wants nothing to do with Jenelle. The outlet also stated that Jenelle Evans was not permitted to initiate contact with Jace, during this time, unless the boy initiated contact first. Eason is banned from ever contacting Jace, in any manner.
