News of the religious leader Louis Farrakhan's death created a stir on social media. X account @RTNewsAmerica made a post on December 22, claiming Louis passed away aged 91.
The tweet gained over 200K views and over 600 reposts. Soon, a few other X users began inquiring if the news was true. Most netizens reacted to the news of Louis' supposed death with words of relief.
"Is Louis Farrakhan actually dead? I don’t want to speak ill of the dead. So if he's still alive… he's a c*nt", an X user posted.
X user Han Shawnity made a tweet after RTNewsAmerica's post went viral. Shawnity described Farrakhan as a "Notorious Black supremacist" and an "Islam Nazi".
"I read that the dishonorable Louis Farrakhan, once taken away by aliens, had died. Good news for Jews, homos*xuals, most Muslims, most Black people, and most decent humans in general. May his memory be forgotten for all time", wrote another X user.
However, the news of Louis' death lacks authenticity as @RTNewsAmerica is a parody account. Several netizens soon caught up to the X account's satirical nature and debunked the news of Louis's death.
Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan is not dead
As per @RTNewsAmerica's bio on X, they post parody content which are not to be believed:
"Po*nded a tw*nk or six million. The king of the gays. Parody artist. If you fell for my bait, you owe me eight dollars. Cash App: $TrollKingDennis"
As claimed in their bio, the account hilariously demanded "Eight dollars" from everyone who believed the tweet and commented with messages like "rest in peace" under the post.
One X user clarified that Don Muhammad, another Nation of Islam leader who headed the Boston headquarters of the organization died at 91 on December 17. However, Louis Farrakhan is alive.
Louis Farrakhan, born Louis Eugene Walcott, joined the Nation of Islam in 1955. He became the minister of the organization's Harlem Temple No.7 in 1964.
However, due to internal differences with NOI's supreme minister Wallace Muhammad, Louis strayed from some of the group's ideologies and established a separate NOI in Chicago.
Under Louis' leadership, Nation of Islam, an establishment that originated in Detroit, grew beyond the US to the Caribbean islands, Ghana, London, and Paris.
Louis is known for Black nationalist, anti-semitic, and anti-LGBTQ rhetoric. He hailed Adolf Hitler as a "very great man" in the 1980s.
The NOI leader, who was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 1991, suffered an almost fatal health complication in 2000.
He survived it, and the Nation of Islam leader is alive.
