According to multiple sources, including Hollywood Reporter, on January 10, 2025, Disney announced that it would pledge $15 million to support LA wildfires relief efforts. The funds would proceed to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, and the American Red Cross, among other organizations.
Bob Iger, CEO of Disney mentioned in a statement that as the tragedy of the LA wildfires continues unfolding, the Walt Disney Company is committed to supporting the community and its employees as "we all work together to recover and rebuild from this unbelievable devastation". Iger's statement also mentioned:
“Walt Disney came to Los Angeles with little more than his limitless imagination, and it was here that he chose to make his home, pursue his dreams, and create extraordinary storytelling that means so much to so many people around the world. Paramount, Walmart, and other companies pledging funds toward LA wildfires relief effort: Details explored
As per a report by ABC News dated January 12, 2025, in addition to Disney, multiple companies donated toward the relief efforts of the LA wildfires.
Film production and distribution company Paramount announced that it would donate a million dollars to various relief groups, as per The Wrap. Additionally, they will be working with World Central Kitchen, Best Friends Animal Society, Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, Red Cross, and the California Fire Foundation.
Additionally, Paramount also offered to assist affected employees in covering the costs of disaster recovery, emergency evacuation, or unexpected events via the company's Employee Assistance Fund. CBS teams and Paramount Pictures have also started donating meals to first responders.
Another company donating to the LA wildfires' relief efforts is Walmart which committed $2.5 million comprising donations of water, food, grants, and essential products. Walmart mentioned that its stores in Southern California have donated water, food, and gift cards to help first responders.
Moreover, owners of four teams Los Angeles Rams, Minnesota Vikings, Houston Texans, and Los Angeles Charges- the NFL Foundation pledged $5 million to support communities affected by the LA wildfires.
Next are the Kroger Family of Companies that run multiple supermarket chains which announced it would raise $1 million for families affected by the fire. This donation would go toward the local Feeding America-associated food banks and the American Red Cross. Kroger is also allowing customers to donate toward fire relief at checkout with its stores donating water and food to affected areas.
Moreover, MLB (Major League Baseball), 15 Los Angeles sports organizations, and other major professional sports leagues teamed with Fanatics to produce "LA Strong" merchandise wherein the proceeds from the sales of the merch will go to the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation and the American Red Cross.
While Comedy Central’s The Daily Show has started directing donations to the California Fire Foundation, BET covered the impact of the LA wildfires on the historic Black community in Altadena.
According to a report by The Guardian dated January 11, 2025, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection mentioned that the fire in Pacific Palisades is 11% contained. Additionally, the Eaton fire affecting Pasadena and Altadena is 15% contained while wildfires like the Hurst and Kenneth fires are in control of the firefighters.
