Yes, Andrea dies in The Walking Dead as she was bitten by a zombified Milton, who was The Governor’s, right-hand man. The Governor killed Milton and kept him in the same room where he tied Andrea up to a chair. As Andrea was trying very hard to cut herself up, Milton lay dying and was later inevitably reincarnated as a walker. Unfortunately, Andrea wasn’t quick enough and was bitten by the zombified Milton.

When Rick and the group reach there, they find that Andrea lay dying; Andrea asks for a gun to put herself down before she turns into a walker. Other members of the group, including Rick, walk out of the room except for Michonne, who stays by her side as she shoots herself dead.

Andrea is a survivor of the post-apocalyptic and zombie-ravaged United States. She is a middle-aged woman who was a civil rights lawyer before the apocalypse. Andrea made her first appearance in the very first season of the series. She is shown to be fearless and extremely protective of her younger sister Amy, but unfortunately, she fails to protect her from a walker bite.

This caused her to go into overwhelming grief and over the time that she spent with the group, she learned to overcome her grief. She is a brilliant marksman, taking the role of a sniper in challenging situations. At the end of season two, she is left by the group presumed to be dead, when a newly arrived character Michonne saves her when she is utterly exhausted and is about to be killed by a walker. Her downfall began when she started trusting The Governor, who was the main reason for her demise.

Why did The Walking Dead kill off Andrea?

Originally Andrea was supposed to have a comic-accurate story arc in the show. Holden was very shocked to know that her character would die in season three. Earlier, the writers debated a lot on this topic and finally came to a resolution to kill off Andrea.

Kirkman explained that her death was justified as there were a lot of story arcs that were a lot different from the source material. This decision made The Governor a more dreadful villain. And helped elevate the journey of Rick and the group that cared about Andrea.
