Carl’s death occurred after he was bitten by a walker while helping Siddiq kill walkers so that their souls were released, as Siddiq’s mother wanted. The midseason premiere of season 8 sees Carl telling Rick, Michonne, and Judith how much he loves them, and then he shoots himself before he can turn into a walker. Rick and Michonne wait outside while they hear a gunshot, and later on, they bury Carl’s body in a graveyard in Alexandria.
