Israeli actress Gal Gadot first portrayed the role of Wonder Woman in Batman v. Superman, which was released in 2016. On December 16, 2022, the actress shared an image of herself as the character on Instagram and wrote,

"I’ve been so grateful for the opportunity to play such an incredible, iconic character and more than anything I’m grateful for YOU. The fans. The most amazing, warm, loving fans in the world."

After appearing alongside Batman and Superman, Gadot appeared in a solo role in two Wonder Woman movies in 2017 and 2020, respectively.

Recently, on October 14, 2024, in the wake of rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs' arrest, a Facebook page called Vivek Vibes alleged that Gadot bagged the titular role in Wonder Woman by having an affair with Diddy.

The post, which has about 1.2K comments and over 4K reactions at the time of writing, also contained a collage of the rapper and the actress. However, the post holds no truth to it and is fake.

Vivek Vibes, the Facebook page that uploaded the news, has a description that reads:

"Just Here to Make You Laugh | Trying to be a responsible adult while creating chaos online."

It is a meme page that occasionally posts fake news, therefore it cannot be trusted. In fact, Gadot landed the role of Wonder Woman through an audition.

The fake news surfaced soon after Diddy was taken into custody in September 2024 on charges of s*x trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and transportation to engage in prostitution. He is currently awaiting trial at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.

As per W Magazine's article dated April 12, 2017, Gal Gadot said in an interview for their cover story that she indirectly turned to Beyoncé for inspiration during the audition for the superhero role. She went on to talk about the anxiety that gripped her as she awaited her chance to get the part.

Stating the same, she said,

"When I auditioned for Batman v Superman, I didn't know it was for Wonder Woman. The director, Zack Snyder, asked me to do a camera test. That was torture. They were looking at six or seven girls, and we were all in separate trailers and were told to stay inside until they called us. Waiting was my enemy Number One, and I was losing my mind. So, I decided to put on Beyoncé."

Furthermore, as per MovieWeb's December 2020 article, in an interview with TheFilmJunkee, director Zack Snyder disclosed that he was convinced he had found his Wonder Woman after Gadot's outstanding performance in her scene with Ben Affleck at her audition.

"Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character," Synder told Deadline in 2013.

He further mentioned that the scene where she confronts Affleck about his drinking was scripted only for the audition. At the end of the scene, the actress said, "You've never known a woman like me." Zack then added that Gal Gadot was selected as Wonder Woman because she impressed everyone.

On the other hand, speaking to Playboy in June 2017, Patty Jenkins, the director of the solo Wonder Woman movie, admitted that she had initially been hesitant to work with an actress she hadn't personally selected for the lead part, but all of her reservations were gone after seeing Gal Gadot in action,

"I started paying attention to her, and watching her and looking at her and it was just unbelievable. Frankly, I think they did a better job than I could have, because I don't know that I would have scoured the earth as hard to find her," Patty said.

She further added:

"I don't know that I would've looked internationally. I would have just looked for an American girl. The fact that they found Gal and chose her is a magical gift to me.”

In other news, there will be no Wonder Woman 3, despite initial announcements.
