In the debate between 2024 Presidential election candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump which took place on September 10, 2024, Trump accused Harris of meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. During the debate, Donald Trump claimed that the Vice President was sent to Europe by Joe Biden to stop the war in Ukraine, where she met with Putin, and he attacked Ukraine three days later.

In her response to Trump's claims, Harris stated:

"If Trump were president, Putin would be sitting in Kyiv right now. Putin would be sitting in Kyiv with his eyes on the rest of Europe, starting with Poland. How quickly you would give up for the sake of favor and what you think is a friendship with a dictator who would eat you for lunch."

Refuting Trump's allegations, Kamala Harris stated that she never met Putin and supported Ukraine via meetings with President Volodymyr Zelensky at the Munich Security Conference before the invasion. According to Times Now, official statements and records confirm that Donald Trump's claims of Harris meeting Putin are unfounded.

Apart from multiple media outlets refuting Trump's claims of Harris having met Putin, Dmitry Peskov, a spokesperson for Putin supported the same.

As per Reuters, in July 2024, Dmitry Peskov was asked if Putin ever talked to Kamala Harris and he mentioned that he couldn't "remember a single contact between President Putin and Ms. Harris.”

Additionally, Kamala Harris went to Germany on February 17, 2022, to attend the Munich Security Conference. The vice president gave a speech on February 19, 2022, wherein she highlighted that the U.S. and its allies would impose heavy and unprecedented economic costs if Ukraine were attacked.

"Donald Trump actually has no plan for you"- Kamala Harris mentioned in the presidential debate

According to The Washington Post dated September 11, 2024, Kamala Harris was able to prompt angry responses from Donald Trump frequently during the presidential debate. Throughout the debate, the vice president claimed that Trump was responsible for illegal immigration, high crime rates, and inflation.

Hinting at Donald Trump repeating his tactics, Harris mentioned during the debate:

“In this debate tonight, you’re going to hear from the same old tired playbook, a bunch of lies, grievances and name-calling.”

She continued:

“Donald Trump actually has no plan for you, because he is more interested in defending himself than he is in looking out for you.”

Further into the debate, Kamala Harris claimed that Donald Trump was responsible for the failure of abortion bans in the U.S. which were the result of the Supreme Court ruling that overturned the case of Roe v. Wade in 2022. Harris claimed that Trump was responsible for children having to undergo pregnancies resulting from incest and bleeding themselves out in parking lots.

Harris also warned the audience that Trump getting re-elected would entail a national abortion plan quoting the former president's "Project 2025" and stating the project comprises a ban of a similar nature. Additionally, the vice president promised voters that she would sign the legislation restoring the overturned precedent on the condition that Congress approves of the same stating she would "proudly sign it into law".

Highlighting the importance of reproductive rights, Harris mentioned that Americans believe that some freedoms like "deciding what happens to one’s own body, should not be decided by the government.”

After Trump argued his stance stating he doesn't believe a nationwide abortion prohibition is needed, Harris responded by stating that Donald Trump shouldn't be telling a woman what she can do with her body.

On the other hand, following the debate on September 11, Harris' campaign had called for a second debate, however, Trump appeared unwilling to participate in another debate. The former president told Fox News's Sean Hannity that he believes that he shouldn't do it. Meanwhile, the vice presidential candidates are set to debate on October 1.
