Fact Check: Is the Buc Ee's Mac and Cheese pool real or fake? Viral image debunked

A post has gone viral on Facebook, claiming that Buc Ee’s has opened a new Mac and Cheese pool. The post made on September 30, 2024 claims that the new Mac and Cheese pool has opened on “I-75,” however, the exact location of the same has not been specified in the post.

Furthermore, the post also accompanies a picture that shows a huge yellow pool, with many people inside. As the post went viral, it grabbed the attention of many netizens who shared the image of the Mac and Cheese pool and also commented on it.

However, there were also a bunch of social media users who questioned if the pool was even real, or if the image was AI-generated. It is worth noting that the original post, which has been shared by almost 10,000 users, has been uploaded by a Facebook Page called “Weird AI Generations.”

The About section of the AI page with one million members reads:

“Beware, these creations may haunt your dreams and unravel your sanity. Step into the eerie world of AI-generated cursed art, where machines possess powers to create twisted and terrifying masterpieces. Join our community of art lovers with a taste for the strange and share your twisted creations.”

It also says:

“These disturbingly beautiful images crafted by AI will leave you questioning the very nature of technology and its place in our world. Enter at your own risk.”

Since the page has specified that all the posts on the page are AI-generated, and just the imagination of the owner of the page, the image showing the Mac and Cheese pool is also fake, and untrue.

Buc Ee's Mac and Cheese pool is not real

As the viral AI-generated image of the Mac and Cheese pool caught the attention of the masses, many were left startled and were convinced that the image was real. However, the image is not real, as it has been posted by a page that has posted many such fake pictures in the past.

The Facebook page claimed that the pool was situated inside one of the Buc Ee’s stores. For the unversed, Buc Ee’s is a chain of gas stations and convenience stores. The stores are now even equipped with eclectic vehicle charging stations. Headquartered in Lake Jackson, Texas, Buc Ee’s opened its first store in 1982, in Clute, Texas.

2018 onwards, Buc Ee’s started expanding their stores in other states too, and they now have a network across the country in various places like Florida, Missouri, Tennessee, Colorado, Kansas, Arizona, and even Oklahoma.

Furthermore, as per USA Today, the Buc Ee’s store in Luling, Texas is the largest gas station as of this writing, which is equipped with bathrooms, a convenience store and even charging stations for EVs.

While the fake AI-generated image showcasing the Mac and Cheese pool continues to spread across various platforms, it is worth noting that social media users should be extremely careful of what they are sharing on the internet, as fake images can be misleading.

As of now, Buc Ee’s has not addressed the image going viral on the internet.
