An article has been doing the rounds on social media claiming that the popular character Elsa will marry a woman in Frozen 3. The viral article was published on October 20, 2023, by a website called Mouse Trap News, and since then, multiple users on various social media platforms have been sharing it.
The article by Mouse Trap News stated that Elsa will marry a woman named Isabella, who will become the second queen of Arendelle.
“While in the forest, Elsa is struggling with her mental health and seeks to find her true self. In the process, she comes across a beautiful woman named Isabella. Throughout the movie, Elsa develops a romantic interest in Isabella. She later comes to realize that Isabella loves her back. In the end, they get married," the news site stated.
Furthermore, the article also claimed that with this twist in Frozen 3, Elsa will become the first main character of Disney to be a part of the LGBTQ+ community. However, this news is fake and holds no truth to it, as Elsa's sexuality was never discussed or announced by Disney or the makers of Frozen 3.
At the same time, Mouse Trap News is not a real news website. It solely publishes satirical articles and content. In fact, the About Us section of the website calls itself the “world’s best satire site.”
“We write fake stories about Disney Parks stuff. From Disney Park announcements to Disney Hotel and resort news to made-up Disney partnerships, you can be assured that anything you read here is not true, real, or accurate, but it is fun," the website states.
It continues,
"So technically our slogan The Moused Trusted Name in Disney News isn’t true, but we thought it was creative and funny, so we are running with it."
Frozen 3 was announced by Disney CEO Bob Iger on February 8, 2023. However, as per IGN, the third part of the film might not be released before 2025. The website also confirmed that Josh Gad, Idina Menzel, and Kristel Bell are all set to return for the film.
Elsa will not be marrying a woman in Frozen 3
Just after Mouse Trap News released an article stating that Frozen 3 would feature Elsa marrying a woman, fans had a mixed reaction to it. Furthermore, the website claiming that the former queen of Arendelle would be the first Disney main character to be a part of the LGBTQ+ community confused the audience as well.
Since the website features only satirical content and fake stories, the news about Elsa being a part of the LGBTQ+ community is untrue. The same article also talked about how Mickey and Minnie will be getting divorced, which again is not true. Furthermore, the article also claimed that the movie Snow White is being canceled, which is also fake news.
The article then talked about how social media users are reacting to the news about the main character of the movie marrying a woman. As per the website, many have been supporting Disney in their supposed decision with regard to Elsa, while others are calling out the movie for being “woke."
The surfacing of this bogus news highlights the reality that fake news can spread like wildfire and mislead a large number of people. As a result, it is always recommended to first check the source of the news, verify if there is truth to the claims or not, and then share the news further. This would prevent fake news from spreading further and put an end to people believing in these false pieces of information.
