On September 4, 2024, Donald Trump took to Truth Social to re-post a picture thanking Tim Walz's brother Jeff Walz for supporting him in the 2024 Presidential elections.
Charles Herbster, a former candidate for governor in Nebraska, who was a part of the former president's endorsement in the 2020 campaign first posted the picture and mentioned that the people in the picture were Tim Walz's family in Nebraska wearing custom t-shirts that read "Nebraska Walz’s for Trump."
Additionally, the account mentioned that the "photo appears to be verified as legit." The former president mentioned in his post:
"Thank you very much, Jeff. It is a Great Honor to have your Endorsement. I look forward to meeting you soon!"
However, the picture doesn't feature Jeff Walz. Charles Herbster's spokesperson told The Associated Press that the picture featured the family descending from the brother of Tim Walz's grandfather. He stated:
"The family in the picture are the descendants of Francis Walz, who was brother to Tim Walz’s grandfather. They’re all Walzes and spouses."
Jeff Walz wishes to be uninvolved in any political campaign after thinking of endorsing Donald Trump
According to reports by the New York Post dated August 31, 2024, Jeff Walz warned Americans against Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz in a series of Facebook comments. Jeff Walz dubbed Tim Walz as someone who wasn't the "type of character" who could make decisions about America's future.
On August 30, 2024, Jeff Walz mentioned that he is "100% opposed to all his ideology," referring to Democratic vice president candidate Tim Walz. According to the publication, Jeff's show of very little faith in his brother Tim Walz indicated the possibility of him endorsing Donald Trump for the 2024 presidential elections.
Additionally, he also expressed his affirmative thoughts on endorsing the former president under a Facebook poster that encouraged Jeff Walz to “Get on stage with President Trump and endorse him.” However, in a turn of events, stating that he "thought long and hard" about endorsing him publicly, Jeff Walz said he currently wishes to be uninvolved in the political campaign of either candidate.
Commenting on the same, Jeff told NewsNation on September 4, 2024:
"It wasn’t my intent, it wasn’t our intent as a family, to put something out there to influence the general public."
"This guy is a lightweight": Donald Trump comments on Tim Walz
Shortly after Tim Walz delivered the acceptance speech for his vice presidential nomination, the former president targeted Kamala Harris's running mate in an interview on Fox & Friends dated August 22, 2024.
Commenting on Tim Walz, he mentioned in his interview:
“He shouldn’t have any access to possibly being president. The guy has been a terrible governor. They have had nothing but problems in their state. He has no capability. They call him coach. He is a semi-coach if he coached some football for a little while. This guy is a lightweight.”
He further commented on Tim Walz signing legislations by stating:
"Her running mate approved, signed into legislation, tampons in boys’ bathrooms. OK, now that’s all I have to hear."
In other news, on September 4, Trump's youngest son Barron made headlines when he was spotted attending his first day of college at New York University, flanked by Secret Service agents. The 18-year-old will be attending the NYU Stern School of Business this year.
