Recently, a rumor arose on social media that Donald Trump canceled his appearance on the brand-new podcast Talk Tuah hosted by Haliey Welch, better known as the Hawk Tuah Girl. It first emerged on X on Monday, September 16, and was posted by a user with the handle @number_pizza111.
The person captioned it “NO” and shared a screenshot of an alleged NPR article dated September 16, 2024, and a time stamp of 5:16 EST. It had the headline, “Trump cancels appearance on ‘Talk Tuah’ podcast due to assassination attempt,” a collage of Haliey Welch and the former President’s images, and “By Associated Press” written on it.
However, the now-viral claim has turned out to be fake. The results of the Google Search Engine did not showcase any such NPR article. Besides, no other media outlets have reported on the same.
The NPR article on Donald Trump canceling his Talk Tuah interview is not real
Earlier this week, a claim emerged on the social media platform X that Donald Trump called off his appearance on Haliey Welch’s latest podcast, Talk Tuah, in the wake of an alleged attempt on his life.
Originally posted by @number_pizza111, it earned 125,000 reactions, 369 comments, and 5,100 reposts at the time of writing and showed a news article clip from the NPR website. However, the image has turned out to be fabricated and unfounded, seemingly made for parody or vitality.
It is most likely computer-generated or AI-created, as evidenced by the WNYC mark on the top left corner, which is nonexistent on its official site. Also, NPR has no record of ever publishing such an article. Instead, the last published article on Donald Trump contained the title, “Trump was targeted in apparent 'attempted assassination,' the FBI says.” It was dated September 16, 2024, at 2:24 pm ET.
The digitally altered image also had the following subtitle:
“Viral Sensation Hailey Welch of ‘Hawk Tuah’ Fame’s ‘Talk Tuah’ podcast, was previously set, as a request of Donald Trump’s son Barron, to have Trump as a guest on September 17, 2024.”
Unfortunately, the claim is false as no major news outlet has confirmed the same. The Hawk Tuah Girl has also not spoken about bringing the 78-year-old billionaire as a guest on her new podcast.
During an exclusive first-person narrative published by Newsweek on September 13 and titled, “I’m the ‘Hawk Tuah Girl.’ I just tune the haters out,” Haliey Welch got candid about her guest list.
“Zach Bryan and his team were so cool. I loved Brianna LaPaglia; she made me comfortable. Shaq gave me the best advice on mental health stuff. Whitney Cummings has taken me in and is helping me so much.”
She also mentioned how Bill Maher encouraged her to “start the podcast” and advised her on the same. The Hawk Tuah Girl also gave a shoutout to her uncle Howie Mandel, calling him a “hoot.”
The Belfast, Tennessee native said that she was “proud of” Talk Tuah (debuted on September 10 with comedian Whitney Cummings as her first guest) and was eagerly looking forward to having “fun” on it.
Elsewhere, Haliey Welch urged her fans to support her charity, Paws Across America, which is dedicated to helping animals, especially dogs.
Meanwhile, a T-shirt featuring Donald Trump with the words “Hawk Tuah. Spit On That Thang” written on it went viral after a video where a person wearing the same was reportedly kicked off a Delta flight last month.
