Hoda Kotb announced her decision to exit the Today show on January 10, 2024. The popular TV personality's daughters, Hope and Haley, also appeared in the latest episode. Hoda's children were not born from her marriage but were instead adopted. Notably, she was previously married to tennis coach Burzis Kanga, as per Closer Weekly.

Towards the end of the episode, Hoda and her daughters sat together while Kermit the Frog made an appearance, singing Rainbow Connection, a song from The Muppet Movie, as per People magazine. Kotb sings this same song for Hope and Haley every night before they go to sleep.

While speaking about her exit, Hoda Kotb expressed gratitude to everyone for their support, including her co-hosts Savannah Guthrie, Craig Melvin, Al Roker, and Carson Daly. She praised Roker, saying:

"When I got sick, you were the first person that walked into the room and said I was going to be okay."

Kotb then thanked Guthrie for being there during her daughter Hope's health issues last year. She also had a message for Craig Melvin:

"Come Monday at 7:00 a.m., I'm going to be dead asleep. But you're gonna be asleep. But you're gonna be fantastic. You're going to bring it home! Craig, you're gonna be so good. You and Savannah are going to be magic."

Hoda Kotb is a mother of two daughters and tied the knot once: Family and other details explored

The Norman, Oklahoma native is trending in the headlines after she signed off the Today show, which airs on NBC News. Kotb has been associated with the network for a long time and has also worked with other stations over the years, including CBS News and WINK-TV.

Despite her busy work schedule, she has managed to raise two daughters and has spoken about them on various occasions.

In a conversation with People magazine in 2023, Hoda Kotb revealed that she received a message from her contact Ashley at the adoption agency around eight years ago. Upon seeing Haley's name, she immediately recalled the moment she took the call. During an episode of the podcast Me Becoming Mom, Kotb shared how she named her daughter:

"I knew her name was Haley. My sister and I, we'd talked about like Halley's Comet. It's like a once in a blue moon that something beautiful like that happens."

A few months after welcoming Haley into the family, Hoda Kotb decided to adopt another child and discussed this with her former partner Joel Schiffman. She believed that Haley needed a sibling and revealed on the Today show in April 2019 that she and Joel had finalized Hope's name before she was born. At that time, she explained:

"The name came because there are a lot of women out there who are hoping that their day is coming too, you know, and I know the feeling of it not happening for a long time."

As mentioned, Hoda Kotb was married to Burzis Kanga many years ago. A report by Daily Mail stated that the duo first met at an American Heart Association fundraiser in 2005 and got engaged and married the same year. In an interview with New Orleans Living Magazine the following year, Kotb revealed that she and Kanga were "dating off and on for years."

According to Hello Magazine, Kotb filed for divorce from Kanga in 2007. Kanga later told Radar Online that they were going through a lot of issues at the time, including Hoda's breast cancer diagnosis, which eventually led to their separation.
