Max, Warner Bros. Discovery's revamped streaming service platform, made its debut on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. The new platform holds all the popular movies and shows hosted by the company in one single destination only. However, right after its launch in the United States, the service went on to encounter some serious technical issues.

As per the company, however, the problems have been quite “minor” and also been fixed swiftly. In an interview with Variety, a spokesperson from Warner Bros. Discovery commented on the issue, noting:

"You must always anticipate issues on a tech rollout of this scale,...We can share that only minor ones have emerged and were quickly remedied."

After users had trouble logging in while using the new service on Tuesday morning, which replaced HBO Max, they took to Twitter to express their frustration regarding the same and complained about some technical issues.

Twitter has been buzzing as complaints began to arrive after MAX login error occurred

As stated by multiple users, the problems also spanned the Max.com website and the mobile apps entailing iOS and the connected TV apps on Samsung TV and Roku TV. As reported by outage-monitoring service Downdetector, user issue reports regarding the new platform were a little above the normal range on the morning of May 23, 2023, the day of the launch.

Even then, glitches were still relatively on the lower side. According to the report, at the very peak, the company's official site received only 447 user outages at around 9:06 am Eastern Time (ET), which is extremely low in comparison for a massive service provider. Take a look at some of the tweets by users who faced difficulty while logging in to the service:

By the looks of the aforementioned tweets, it is quite understandable that users were extremely annoyed with the issues they faced with the newly debuted service. Some subscribers went on to state that despite trying multiple times to log in to Max.com, they were stuck right after clicking on the “Start Streaming” button.

Another service user complained that although they were able to catch a show on Roku, the Max service went on to freeze after they skipped the recap of the show.

As per Variety, due to the big release of the new service platform, Warner Bros. Discovery has been minutely and continuously monitoring customer reports regarding technical challenges from their “war rooms” in several locations in Bellevue, New York, and London, among others. During an interview with Variety, Avi Saxena, the Warner Bros. Discovery CTO, said:

“The entire team is on standby,”

Later on, a Warner Bros. Discovery revealed that the issue with the platform has been resolved swiftly. As per the company, a massive part of the subscribers of HBO Max will have their apps updated to the new service automatically. However, in other cases, users will get notified so that they can download the updated app.

The company has also stated that the new service is available on all the platforms, same as HBO Max, such as Android, iOS (iPhone and iPad), Amazon Fire TV and Fire Tablet, Apple TV, Android TV, Google Chromecast, Roku, LG Smart TV, Samsung TV, PlayStation 4 and 5, Vizio SmartCast TV, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, and several other web browsers, including Firefox, Chrome, Apple Safari, Microsoft Edge for Windows and more.
