Who is Cameron Boyce?

Cameron Boyce was born on May 28, 1999, in Los Angeles, California. The American actor had a knack for creativity and dance from a young age and was also trained in breakdancing, hip-hop, modern dance, jazz, tap dance, and ballet. He cherished breakdancing and had also formed a crew with his other four friends and named it ‘X Mob’.

Talking about his career and rise, Cameron Made his debut as a child actor in the music video "That Green Gentleman (Things Have Changed)" in May 2008. Cameron appeared in the music video as a younger version of Panic! at the Disco guitarist Ryan Ross. Later in 2008, Boyce made his feature film debut in the horror movie ‘Mirrors’ alongside Kiefer Sutherland. In 2010, Boyce was then seen on the big screen playing the role of Adam Sandlers’ brat son, Keith in the comedy film Grown Ups. The actor reprised his role as Keith in Grown Ups 2 too.

Apart from these, Cameron was also well known for featuring in many Disney shows such as Jessie, Shake It Up, Good Luck Charlie, and many more. His most well-known role for Disney was as Carlos, son of famous Disney villain Cruella De Vil, in 2015 released Disney movie Descendants. He reprised his role in the animated shorts Descendants: Wicked World, and the franchise’s sequels Descendants 2 and Descendants 3. The third part was released posthumously.

At the mere age of 20, Cameron passed away due to SUDEP (Sudden unexpected death in epilepsy) on July 6, 2019. After his unexpected passing, on behalf of his family, a spokesperson revealed that Boyce had passed away in his sleep due to a seizure which was a result of an “ongoing medical condition”. His family also revealed that the actor had a history of suffering from epilepsy and was being treated for it.

Epilepsy is a disorder in which nerve cell activity in the brain is disturbed which in turn causes seizures. These seizures can range from mild to severe. Although epilepsy is always treated as something fatal, people suffering due to it live a full productive life. Yet those who have suffered from extremely violent seizures at a young age always have a risk of SUDEP.

SUDEP stands for Sudden Unexpected Death In Epilepsy. In this the person often suffers a seizure and passes away in the night during their sleep. This is what resulted in Boyce’s death.

On July 6, 2019, Cameron was found unresponsive at his house in Los Angeles, California. The authorities were called and after arriving at his residence and checking Cameron, they pronounced him dead at the scene. On July 30, 2019, the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner released his autopsy report in which they confirmed that Boyce's death was a result of Sudden Unexpected Death In Epilepsy (SUDEP). Cameron’s body was cremated and returned his ash to his family members.
